400 Point Allied Air Drop list

By Guest, in Dust Warfare

So I wanted to make a list using all my models and found that it came to 535 AP and was legal. I would have to put the punisher as support for the third platoon and use the extra hero platoon upgrade to fit in Priest and one-eye but it was possible and, in fact, legal. But it was 535 points, which is a little outrageous for a game, though I will one day try an "Apocalypse" sized game like that. So I made a list that uses almost everything (short of 1 walker and 2 heroes) that caps out at 400 points, is a legal 3 platoon list, with an air drop theme to it.

Combat Platoon

Command section: "The Boss"

1st section: "Death Dealers"

2nd section: "the Gunners"

4th section: "Red Devils" + "Action Jackson"

Support: "Steel Rain"

"Blackhawk"

Elite Platoon

Command section: "Corps Officers"

1st section: "The Hammers" + "Rhino"

2nd section: "Tank Busters"

Support: "The Pounder"

Platoon upgrade: "Air drop" ("The hammers" + "Rhino")

Assault Platoon

Command section: "Hell Boys"

1st section: "BBQ squad"

Platoon upgrade: "Air drop" ("BBQ squad")

=399 AP

What do you think? Its almost all my allied stuff I own… for now gui%C3%B1o.gif Anyone play a 400 point game yet?

Not yet, but that list sounds fun!

I'm going to test out a game pitting that list against an axis 2 platoon 400 point list that I can make.

Axis list

Sturmgrenadiere platoon

Command section: Kommandotrupp

1st section: Heavy Flak Grenadiers

2nd section: Battle Grenadiers

3rd section: Recon grenadiers

Support: "Lothar"

"Heinrich"

"Sniper Grenadiers"

Platoon upgrade: "Defenses" (Snipers)

Blutkreuz Platoon

Command section: Sturmpioniere

1st section: Heavy Laser Grenadiers

+ Lara

3rd section: Axis Zombies

+ Totenmeister

4th section: Axis gorillas

Support: "Ludwig"

"Hans"

"Beobachter squad"

Platoon upgrade: "Improved Command" (to give a radioman to the Sturmpioniere squad who could really use one)

=400 AP

If I had more gorillas I would use them and Markus is definitely on my wish list. I can always get more zombies through the failsafe order gui%C3%B1o.gif

If I find a friend crazy enough to try out a 400 point game with me, I will let you know if it was too big or not… 350 are pretty big as it is and is as big as we have gone, and that is when we have a Saturday to burn (we tend to stop for refreshments when we play) gran_risa.gif

One thing I've thought about doing is pairing Action Jackson with the Corps Officers to give them air drop too (without the need for the platoon upgrade.)

Then I could use the Army of One platoon special ability to move Action Jackson over to be with the Red Devils. Then I could still use the air drop platoon upgrade to upgrade another unit, and presto, I've got 3 units air dropped in, even though only one has the ability.

I've thought about doing this, but haven't tried it yet. Not having the command section on the board in round one could possibly be limiting.

I really like that idea actually. As long as you are running a combat platoon with the Elite platoon I think it would be allright. Then you would still have the Boss on the table while waiting for the airdrop. And if the "air droppers" all landed in the same general vicinity, you have the corps officers already up the table with the devils and the other airdrop unit (which in my case would be the BBQ squad or the Hammers) to provide support and orders to your new "front line". I may have to steal that idea! Good on ya Felkor! aplauso.gif

Yeah, we normally play 150 - 200 AP games, so we usually just have one platoon. I actually have an army I'm playing with tonight that I could do this with, but I think I need the Corps Officers to hang back, and I think I want them on the table right away… too bad though, since it's a fun idea.

I've also thought about just pairing Action Jackson with the Corps Officers and leaving him there. Within 6", they would ignore BOTH armor and cover, and that would be pretty sweet.
