Zverograd Ruined City Table

By [So]Rice, in Dust Warfare

Hello all,

I think I posted a WiP of this before, but I can't find the thread. Anyways, the table is pretty much done for now. The only thing left is to do the last 2x4 section which is the giant church.

The 4x4 table is modular, here are a few configurations:

If you would like to see this table in person, Mack Martin himself will be demoing using this table to demo at WargamesCon 2012 in Austin, Texas. If you are in the DFW area, my house is open if someone wants a game too!

Also please like Lazuli Miniatures Studio's Facebook page, we are raffling a squad of Dust Germans very soon!

Thanks for looking!

Well done! Consider adding in one of the statues available on the Dust Games site.

Can't wait to see the church.

That looks like a fun table to play on.

WOW! Looks great, and I really like how you kept it modular -- I think that would let you get a lot more play out of it.

So is the last image a scenario where the Axis is trying to contain an escaped experiment?

Ah, the dreaded only whispered about in secret Kampfhund project! Shhhhh! Don't let it hear you! And for Rommel's sake, get rid of that bacon in your pocket! gran_risa.gif

Nice board. What are the base sizes you used ?

Looks awesome! Can I ask what colors you used on the buildings?

Hello,

Mgentile7: Each base is 2ft x 2ft

MiniJunkie: The city was painted with the following colors (mostly from dark to light, but I went over randomly too):

Krylon Medium Muli-textured Spray Grey (2 cans)

Krylon Light Multi-textured Spray (Grey)

Color Place Black Spray Paint (6 cans)

Rustoleum Grey Primer (4 cans)

Rustoleum Light Grey Primer (2 cans)

Krylon White Primer (1 can)

Rustoleum Brown Enamel (1 can)

Rustolem Black Enamel (1 can)

Basically, go over the buildings lightly with the textured spray to make the more interesting. Than the entire buildings are sprayed black. From the sides and top only, I sprayed them Grey, and finally from the top only they were sprayed with Light Grey. The buildings should look lightest at the top and darker at the bottom. The sidewalks were sprayed white with the angle letting the paint splash onto the bottoms for a dusty feel. Hope this helps! The brown and black enamel were for scorch marks in the craters.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks, that's great info! I must say, the buildings almost look more beige/white than grey? (I love the effect)

Now we know how to find where you live, just look for the cloud of aerosol hanging above you. Great looking table btw.

Thanks again guys.

The buildings look beige due to the lighting in the garage.

That must be one big garage?

mgentile: Nope, just moved the cars out ;)

Here is the church section:

It already looked awesome, but with the church section, the look is complete. Fantastic looking table. It has made me want to scrape off all the grass off my table and start from scratch…

Great table. i have a fondness for urban tables/terrain and this one nice.

More questions!

Any idea how many building kits you used?

How did you "ruin" them - did you use a saw to cut the corner/half sections diagonally etc?

Hello,

I used 8 Operation Cerebus Kits (or 24 of the new kit coming out). I also used 6 of the Pegasus Church kits (2x Small 1, 2x Small 2, and 2x Large)

I drew the lines with Sharpie and cut them with giant Electrician Diamond cutters (regular clippers break since the plastic is hard and much of it is double sided). Hope that helps! A 6x4 table can use less kits, but I made the buildings really big ^_^

I might have missed it in an earlier post, but what did you use for the modular bases?

Hello, they are 2ftx2ft pieces of hardboard from Lowes.

Very cool. Thanks.
