Do any of you DC guys know whether Labyrinth got WiFi since the last time I was there many months ago, or whether there's some other strong WiFi network available in the area that I could *legally* connect to (e.g. a close-by shop whose owners I can ask for permission to use their router's signal)? I might be able to do a scouting trip tonight…
I believe they do have wi-fi if I recall correctly from the time we had our tournament in Feb. They are closed today so I can't confirm.
As for streaming live via your 3G, I hope you have a large data package. (Commence jokes about large packages…)
Hey if you want to stream I can let you use my twitch.tv account to stream to. I know a number of people "follow" that account and get notifications when it goes live. I think you could have a static set up and you pick one game to play at that table each round. Kinda like how MTG does it. I am always a big supporter of watching thrones games, and being able to see the decision making process.

Edited by finitesquarewellWell I use xsplit broadcaster. That lets you grab video feed from attached devices and you can either have multiple views on the screen at once or you can switch back and forth between views. It automatically saves the video feed and can be accessed from the stream page at any time.

Edited by finitesquarewellIf it would be helpful, you can stream 4G from my phone (tethered over wi-fi…no cable needed). Likely I'll need a plugin though to ensure the phone battery holds up though.
All of this assumes I'll have 4G phone service in the shop. If I remember correctly, I do get service in that game shop, but I can't remember how strong Sprint's coverage is there.

I have Sprint WiMax too. Usually I have good service anywhere in DC with it. I lived a few blocks from there until last July, and it always worked great.
I'd vote for this, but I know you're just going to keep the camera locked on my beautiful face the whole time, so that would be unfair to the rest of the community, I think. Especially since I'm probably going to scrub out.

If not i have 4gs iphone with the grandfathered unlimited data plan so wifi or not wouldnt be an issue.
Not to be too big of a jerk here, but it looks like you could probably save yourself a lot of trouble by calling Staton during the matches. Other than him, I'm not seeing anyone who isn't planning on being there expressing a lot of interest in watching the matches via streaming.
The main objective is not to really stream, but to record and then potentially edit and post online. By streaming to my account it saves it to my online storage and I can edit it and repost it so people can watch at their leisure.
I may be in the minority here, but I would watch a recorded game after the fact. I watched a couple OCTGN games on Staton's site, and I enjoyed them. A real-person match could be better, depending on commentary.
Actually, that's another question--in Staton's OCTGN games they were narrated. Is that something Staton plans to add in after the fact for the DC finals game?
Yeah, I was going to ask Shives or someone else if they wanted to commentate during editing.

this. and that was kinda a jerky comment ktom (even though im sure it was all in good fun).

I didn't realize that "record, edit, add commentary, and post" was the plan. I also thought that by being a jerk, people would be more likely to express their interest in order to call me out as a jerk. After all, Erick's very first question was "is there any interest," and other than Staton, no one has answered that question.
With all the technical logistics that seem to be involved and discussed here, I personally would not feel like putting in the effort if no one had said "yeah, I'd watch that." If people really do want this to happen, saying something might help give the DC folks more incentive and assurance that their efforts were worth it. That's all I was really getting at with my jerky comment.
Yeah, I didn't take any offense. Your comment actually made me realize we weren't being as clear as to what exactly we were trying to do. If it was just "hey we're going to stream these games at this time" then I'm guessing no one would really care all that much because they have better things to do on a weekend. However, if it becomes "Hey we're streaming but we're also going to save the recordings, edit and add commentary for you to watch later." it becomes a lot more appealing to a much wider audience.
I'd love to watch it if it's recorded. I've been too busy to post much, but thought I'd throw that out there. TeamCovenant's video of the finals in OK was fantastic, and I wish we had more like that. (Too bad it was a GJ choke mirror match.
At least the production values were outstanding.)
I know i'd love to watch the matches especially with commentary. It would be cool Staton if you could get together with the one or both of the players that make the finals and have them tell you what they were(or were not) thinking at the time. I would love to make it to the finals myself, but as I have been too unable to find a Stark deck capable of reliably beating Pavel's Martell/Maester deck, I have given up on my 3 key rules of deck building and just thrown a bunch of cards together. I think my deck is about 70 cards with 20 events, it should be epic fail, but I think I will at least have a lot of fun which is what I am going for since I already won a playmat at NY regionals.
Personally, I couldn't and wouldn't watch a live stream, but I'd love an edited recording that I could watch at my own leisure after the fact. It would have to be shot well, in a way that lets you follow the action without missing key parts. I wouldn't mind commentary, if it's good, but I could also do without.
Having the players of the game recoded going over their own plays adds a lot imo and would get me to watch.
by the way, am i the only one who thinks of erick's username as infinitesquirrel?

Huh. For me it always conjures the thought "****, the more difficult one where stuff doesn't stay cleanly within the box". Believe me, infinite square wells (even with squirrels in them) are much less troublesome.

The first time I read it I thought it was a statement that "Finites [numbers] square well." And I thought, "Yeah, I guess they do… What a strange boardname." I thought he just really liked the idea that you could square a finite number.
