Hi, I am new to the game and I am looking to get some tips on deck construction. I am a MtG convert, so I have some background in card games like this. I have a deck that I have been messing with today on CardGameDB, and if I could get some insight from you experienced folks, I would really appreciate it.
The main strategy I have is based off a card I saw that I liked: Opener of the Gate. I found Chant of Thoth that would let me play spells (which are also Monsters) from my discard pile. And of course, this feeds Yog (core) as well. So I need some monsters that have interesting sac abilities, or cards that let me sac characters do do cool things (which I am having some difficulty finding). Or have a low cost/high skill ratio and cause me to wound or sac things (such as Basilisk). I think Ghoulish Worshipper would be great to cheapen all my monsters (and Yog!). Or maybe the strategy could be: get out as many monsters as possible and just go crazy committing to stories and not worry about them dying (because I can play them from my discard pile later). So for now, the latter strategy is what I have chosen, but maybe you folks can help me decide if that will work or not. Still not sure about what kind of cost curve I need to be looking at (I imagine I am way high on character cost, so I will probably need some good support/event cards to slow down my opponent). Or maybe I need to splash a different faction entirely!
Here's what I have so far:
Characters (I will probably need to pare this down):
Opener of the Gate x 3
Many Angled Thing x 3
Enraged Gug x 2 (?)
Laboring Gug x 3 (?)
Tunnel Lurker x 3
Yog-Sothoth x 2
Albino Goat Spawn x 3
Goulish Worshipper x 3
Insect Swarm ?
Twilight Cannibal x 3
Lavinia Whateley x 2
Basilisk x 3
Supports:
Things in the Ground (?)
Events:
Chant of Thoth x 3 (spell)
Unspeakable Resurrection x 2 (spell)
Dreams in Limbo x 3 (this seems to be useful against early game rush) (spell)
Journey to the Other Side x 3 (spell)
Maleficium x 3 (I really think this is a cool card, but I don't know if it fits)
I thought about putting in Lucas Corn, but I'm not sure if I can really make him work with the theme. He is a monster though.
