Does anyone know what the deal is with Princes of the Sun expansion being out of stock at seemingly every website including FFG? Is this a temporary thing or has it been this way a while and does anyone know when it is likely to become available again? I can't seem to find any discussion of this so I assume that is hasn't been discontinued..

Actually that website just e-mailed saying that they are in fact out of stock as well. So my question remains.
Your best bet may be to find a friendly local game store that may still have it in stock. :-(
www.eaglecard.org has 2 listed as in stock. Their listings are usually reliable.
Does anyone know what the deal is with the shortage or how long it has been like this?
The "deal" is that the last printing on the product was at least a year ago and there has been a huge influx of people playing Martell over the last year. (Nine of the Top 16 at 2011 Gencon were Martell - even if only 1 of the Top 4 were.)
It's not a "shortage." It's a trough in the normal product life cycle. There has been no announcement from FFG as to when, if at all, they plan on reprinting it a second time.
In case anyone is interested, I e-mailed FFG about when we might see it come back in stock:
"We have not announced an official release date as of yet. Keep your eyes on our Upcoming page for all of the latest release news on our properties!"
I just purchase a copy of "Princes of the Sun" and "Queen of Dragons" expansions from Celestialgames on ebay. Since I just purchased them, I have not recieved them so I cannot give a personal recommendation. However, they do have a good record. They are based in England, so it comes to about 90 US dollars for both items (that price includes shipping)…not a bad price for both, and there were still a couple more of each in stock today.
These are brand new editions. Hope this helps and I wish you well in your pursuit of these items.
