I have been thinking about a new Brotherhood deck to build, and thought to myself, what about Lannister?
With the income and potential draw available, I will be able to see the cards that I need.
Anguy allows me to gain power when my opponent's characters are killed, whether it be from claim, Terminal Schemes, or my plot.
Then Joffrey allows me to get power from my own Lords being killed, with there being 3 of them including himself, but also the potential boost from the Campfire Mimes.
Depending on the board layout, I could get a potential 6 power swing from Valar if 3 of my Lords die, and 3 of their characters die. With Wildfire Assault the turn before to trim them down and boost Anguy, this is a trick deck where it could all fall down on me.
There are 13 Brotherhood characters in the deck, which I feel is a safe amount. On the chance that I don't have any out, I will make sure I only defend for a turn and not get any unopposed challenges through them. However between mulligan and setup, it should be unlikely that I don't see a single Brotherhood character by the end of the first Marshalling phase.
This deck is for a joust Regional later this month, so unfortunately time is not on my side to get it tested and tuned. Hence posting it online for feedback and suggestions.
Lannister Brotherhood
Hey, nice deck ..I think Brotherhood can work well with Lannister. I personally think they have some stronger deck types though.
Why the tribeless vegabonds ..maybe replace them with house clegane outlaw ..would be way better I think.
Maybe use core Jaime Lannister since he has infamy ? Also, I think your income locations seem a little bit high ..especially since you are running the gold wheenies. Maybe replace the neutral reducers and re thnk the income a bit to have only lannister locations. That way you can turn 2 or 3 "All the gold in casterly rock" to marshall like 10+ gold.
Also one other thing ..might be a sweet idea to go up to x3 of Beric and try to get widows wail on him then crank up the power so you can hit your draw cap every challenge with him.
Thanks for the reply SerArthurDayne.
I have tried a shadow-kneel deck, and it didn't do me well. I thought about a Maester focused deck, but was concerned about burn being popular in the current meta.
The reason for the Tribeless Vagabons is that they are cheap Stealth, whilst also giving me the option to have whatever icon I need at the time. They also allow me to get more Strength into a challenge if they go in on something first, and then Tywin goes in after, bringing them all along with him. Stealth is my personal favourite keyword, and so I like looking for cheap uses of it.
My theory with so much gold production is that it means I will always have enough production to ensure I can play the cards I draw, even against choke, Blockade, or a bad draw.
I wanted to avoid focusing on Beric, as that is what a lot of people do, and Nightmares, Search and Detain, Ghaston Grey, just threaten him too much.
Why King's Landing? 4 gold is expensive for draw in Lanni, especially with no shadows cards to speak of in your deck. Consider the location that bounces brotherhood characters. It's pretty nice to bounce the orphan for that net 2 power swing.
