Platoon Special Orders

By KevinBakon, in Dust Warfare

Has Army of One saved anyone's bacon? How about Take Charge? Both orders seem a lot more situational than the others. Are there some creative tactics that I am missing?

How would you rate all the orders? For me, it's:

Blitzkrieg

Smoke screen

Long tom

Zombie Juice

Take Charge

Army of One

Take charge and Army of one may not be "sexy" like some of the others, and may not be used that often but when the time comes, you will be really glad you have it! Army of one can be very very useful late game if you need it. It breaks the rule that says the hero can't leave one unit to join another unit and the new unit would automatically stop retreating. It doesn't seem like you would need this, but that one time that you do, it sure is nice to have the option.

And take charge is very very valuable to have. It lets you regroup multiple units with a single order. If things go all to hell and you have two or more units with all kinds of suppression/reaction markers on them, you might be very glad that you have this order. One order to area effect multiple units, yes please. I would also assume that a radioman would allow one of the units to be out of range, so in that case you could have two different heavily suppressed units, one close to you and one on the otyher side of the table and with one order regroup them both taking away all the suppression markers off them and/or promoting new unit leaders, plus, if your unit leader is in the right spot, getting a 6" movement out of most of the guys in the regrouping unit… all for one order. Not too shabby.

As I said, you will probably not use either of those orders much, but when the time comes, they are tremendously helpful.

I find both of those orders fall into what I call my, "Backup Weapon" category, which I describe as…

"Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it." gui%C3%B1o.gif

Take Charge is very powerful when combined with Off Target Shelling from the Battle Builder (do not remove Suppression token in the end phase)

I love Blitzkreg its by and far my favorite order, and that has nothing to do with me playing Axis lol :-P I wonder what orders the Russians will have.

Zombie time!!! by far the best order. little baby zombie running off can quickly become a problem to enemy units if ignored and draw fire from your better units if not.
