For The Motherland!!! [SSU hobby blog]:

By Kommissar Zeitsev, in Dust Warfare

This blog will document the creation and evolution of my SSU army for the Dust Warfare miniatures game.

Being a converter/kit-basher at heart I can't help but customize any models I buy, and the fact that Dust infantry are pre-built means that a little work needs to be done to add some viual variety and unique character to individual models and units.

For starter I have bee doing some work on my SSU walkers.

Below are pics of my first KV-152i (looted from German tech) and "Grand'Ma". Some things I did to them:

1. added vision slits to both and lights to the KV-152i

2. Did a headswap on the KV-152i crewman using an IG tanker head from GW (that head has a distinct Soviet vibe with the tanker headgear).

All the pics are WIP as the models are only basecoated( black primer followed by rusty red overspray and then Vallejo Russian Uniform) thus far.

You can also see my first test basing for an urban rubble look that I plan to do on all my SSU.

I have a lot of ideas for customizinf/converting my infantry which I will update this blog with asap.

C&C welcome.

Sounds interesting, but the links don't work

Pics now working.

More updates to come: I modded my Koshka to have a more imposing pistol last night.

Also have some conversion ideas for my frontoviki squads, including using some secrets of the third reich soviet heads to add variety.

Pics to follow in a bit…

Nice! Particularly like the basing on the big walker

Thanks. I like the end result, though it was a little labor intensive.
