New Hangar Bay Components?

By Kraken, in Rogue Trader Rules Questions

Are there more hangar bay components available in other books to supplement the four listed in Battlefleet Koronus?

The description in Battlefleet mentions that a hang component must be mounted on port or starboard space unless noted otherwise. None of the components in Battlefleet give an alternative, so I assume this statement was included to alow for future components or xenostech ships. Unfortunately, this means with the current rules, there is no way to put a hangar bay in my group's frigate, though we REALLY want one.

As an alternative, has anyone designed any house rule ship components that may fit this function?

Thanks.

You're right. Rules as written, hangar bays are only found on light cruiser or larger vessels (aside from the occasional re-kitted transport). You'll have to house-rule it if you really want some. The only house rules I've seen to date were one ship on the Dark Reign website, and I'm pretty sure that was a cruiser.

There are some Xenos vessels with dorsal or keel landing bays. And, Space Marine ships, both the Strike Cruisers and the Battlebarges, have prow hangar bays. Good luck getting your hands on one of those, though…

Cheers,

- V.

Hold Landing Bays don't take up a weapon slot, that's the only RAW way to get attack craft on a frigate or raider.

There is an homebrew frigate hull with integrated launch bay on this very forum, in the house rules section.

Actually, I don't think you can install the Hold Landing Bay in a Frigate or Raider. It is listed in the COmponent Tables as a Transport class option only.
