Aeron Damphair

By mardukch, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hi,

There was a question on AGOTcards about the new Aeron Damphair and we couldn't agree on the answer.

Here's the question asked by bbsb12: "Does Aeron have time to trigger as Agenda when Valar kills him and you try to save your other guys with Iron Cliffs?"

Someone said he could, arguing that "all saves are done in step two, aeron becomes the agenda in step 4, his response is done in step 5, all in the same window."

I personally thought he couldn't because he would stay moribond til step 6 of the action window and he wouldn't become an agenda til then…

Can anybody enlighten us, please?

Here's Aeron's text:

"Ironborn house Greyjoy only. Stealth. If Aeron Famphair would be killed, instead attach him to your House card as your only agenda with the text: 'Response: After a Greyjoy character is saved, draw 2 cards.'"

I'm not sure why you think Aeron is moribund, since he is not killed but attach to your House card through his replacement effect (ocurring in Step 3)).

So I'd say he Respond to characters killed by Valar Morghulis (excluding himself, because he was not saved).

Aeron does not become an Agenda in Step 4. His replacement effect kicks in during Step 3 so that when he dies and becomes moribund after being killed, he becomes "moribund:agenda" instead of "moribund:dead pile." As such, he is not physically removed from play and attached as an Agenda until Step 6. While he is moribund, he is considered to be in play. Agendas are not in play. So how can he be an agenda (and have access to his agenda text) while he is still in play, moribund or not.

Whoever said he becomes an agenda in Step 4 needs to brush up on the moribund rules, as well as the replacement effects rules. The idea that he becomes an agenda before he leaves play (and is attached to the House card) is conceptually flawed on a number of levels.

leave pla y

So if he is moribund until Step 6, he cannot use his Agenda text in Step 5.

Thanks Ktom!

By the way, I have another existential question for you. How do you want us to pronounce your name? Is it K-Tom, like Kay Tom, or simply Ktom, like ctom?

~Why? Do you plan to erect an altar in some nook in your house and invoke his blessings by chanting his name while ritually tearing up and burning copies of The Red Wedding?

Oh so I've been doing it all wrong. I've been chanting passages from the FAQ this whole time…

When I pray to gods of AGoT, I usually just burn a couple of Winds of Winter and Song of Summer packs as an offering.=)

This would be how I think of it. It is my first initial and the beginning of my last name.

~ Burnt offerings are generally less effective than alcoholic ones. Or whatever northmen offer to the trees.

~You want people to go all Craster for you? Gross… and yet awesome.

~I was wondering why my Heart Tree kept dying when I started watering it with a nice brown ale, so thick and strong it made my eyes sting.
