In regards to Val, with the text about drawing and immediately playing the card drawn or discarding it, how many times in a row can you trigger the effect. E.g. Could I do it 10 times in a row to find a card I really wanted?

Note that is says you must "Play that card as your next response or action, if able. Otherwise, discard it."
So if you CAN play that card, you HAVE to. Other than that, there's nothing in her card text to limit the number of times it can be done. So unless she's been erratta'd (and I don't have the current errata document with me), there's nothing to stop you from doing it as many times as you like.

Draw cap of 3 means that you can draw up to 3 cards outside of the draw phase framework. No more. So even if you could use val to cycle through 10 cards all that will happen is that you would discard them.
As it is i dont believe the game rules allow you to even try that. Checking the rules the word cannot is used, and as the faq makes clear, cannot is absoulte, you cant even attempt it.
The only way i can think of off the top of my head is in a nights watch/wildlings deck with dolerous edd out.
Underworld is correct. Because of the "draw cap," which only lets you draw a total of 3 cards (plus the normal 2 you get during the Draw Phase) per round, and Val says to "draw" the card, you cannot use her to cycle through more than 3 cards in a round.
Kristoff's point is well taken, too. You have to play the card you draw with Val if you can. So, if you have 4 gold in your gold pool and use Val hoping to get Melisandre, but draw Fiery Followers instead, you cannot discard the Followers hoping to get Mel the next time you trigger Val. You MUST use your 4 gold to play the character you got, whether you want to or not.

On final question just so I'm clear on this.
If you had to discard the card cause you couldn't play it, are you discarding it from the top of the deck or from your hand. Just need to know as if it is from the top of the deck that will trigger other responses, like Kraken Tatto.
