How do you buy for this game?

By HERO, in Dust Warfare

I'm just asking because I'm a little confused on what's the best way to buy for this game.

For example, I'm looking for an additional Panzershrek for my Battle Grenadier squad and Markus for my Apes, but I can't justify buying Operation Sea Lion and another BG squad just for those.

Kinda disappointed with that.

Plus the fact that the Products page for Dust Warfare on this site has nothing but the rulebooks up. Makes me automatically default to 3rd party sites.

Well Dust Warfare is only the rulebooks the minis are all dust tactics products. If you look at the tactics page you can find all the minis boxes. Also as for buying I mostly play tactics so buying those expansion is not an issue for me and it looks like the expansions in the future will be a terrain piece and heroes rather then tiles. as for markus you could try converting a normal ape or wait for the rumored hero pack.

The extra Panzerschrek is in the Battle Grenadiers squad box. Marcus unfortunately is only in Seelowe currently. The Mentor Freezer model from the AT43 Karmans is a great Markus proxy.

i can buy this game from the market by purchasing the dvd of the game iand i can also buy the game directy from you by purchacing the setup of this game from you and i want to buy this can you tell me that how much you take for this game reply me plzzzzzzzzzz

According to FFG's webstore the extra panzerschreck is only in the premium box. Have you experienced otherwise?

The Battle Grenadiers definitely comes with 6 miniatures. It comes with an extra PanzerShrek miniature.

If you are buying premium figures then you are correct Poe theTank Killers and Battle Grenadiers are each a separate box. If you buy the normal figures then the Battle Grenadiers/ Tank Killers both come in the same box. Hope that helps,

This is correct. I bought both, and this is how they are packaged.

That's great! I wasn't aware of that. Although… I guess I shouldn't tell my Axis opponent. ;)

I think that's ridiculous.

Why would they ever release a miniatures game without releasing the models for purchase that's not inside some 40 dollar Tactics box?

I want to buy Markus, plain and simple. The same reason I want Heavy Laser Grens and just Totenmeister by herself. Why don't I have the option to do this? I'm practically begging FFG to take my money but they're not giving me the option to do so. I find that to be utterly, and I mean utterly ridiculous.

Well, I feel you in this one.

I got one topic running me against the fans where I'm trying to reason some aspects I don't like about this game. One of them is the lack of army bundles and easy access to miniatures.
People told me there that this game is easier and cheaper than 40K but in this specific case of yours I'm having second thoughts.

I think FFG will have to offer the Tactics expansion figures separately. Not everyone buys Tactics figures for Tactics, and there will be plenty of people who, like yourself, don't necessarily care about playing SeeLowe, but just want Markus.

As the Axis squad I'm building includes snipers, I don't mind buying Cerberus; along with Angela it also includes The Chef (who I probably won't use but will be fun to paint) and a great bit of terrain (which I don't have that much of). But I can see how anyone who wants to go with zombies or apes might feel a bit put out.

That and some Starter Boxed armies as well…
Warmachine took the leap after the release of the 2 Player Starter Box set. (and NO, Dust Tactics starter is not the same!!)

The D:T Revised Core contains a light walker, hero, and several squads for each side, terrain (tank traps and ammo crates) and dice. How is this not able to be considered a starter set?

Rules being sold separatly from a starter box is nothing new in TT war games, and as a bonus you have another game to play.

As to Warmachine, how many years had the game been out before the 2 player starter set was released?

Warmachine published in 2003, two player battle box 2011 = 8 years

How long has D:W been out?

Around a month

I think some patience is in order.

That's exactly my point!

Warmachine only took their leap after that Starter Box, at least in my country it was that way. Our tournament scene has 50% of players playing with Khador and Menoth and the other 50% playing the rest, and only about 10% playing Hordes factions.

This numbers reflect the need of a good Starter Box, or specific Faction Starters. And FFG should have considered this by the time they launched D:W, just like other companies like Spartan Games made with their games, presenting both Rules and Starters at the same time.

As for the D:T Starter, I don't see it that way. You see it as "buy the starter and you'll get another game for free" and I see that as "I have to buy another game I will never play to get the components to play another game".

Play it or not, the D:T set is a bargain in the volume of miniatures you get. Two equal, legal platoons, dice, and terrain pieces for $80 (full retail) is a great deal.

Agreed, if you throw all the DT components away, the revised core set is still a huge deal.

I don't think you guys get the point. I'm not talking about the 2-player starter, I'm talking about the 40-dollar Dust Tactics expansion called Operation SeaLowe when I JUST want Markus for Dust WARFARE.

This is the first minis game I've seen that prohibits me from giving them money. There are no options to buy the things I WANT to to make the army I want. That's pretty terrible because I love the game and want to play it, but I can't build the army I want even though the book gives me the options to do so. And the worst part, is that I know the models exist.

I agree with that point, I don't think they planned as well as they could have for the Warfare changeover. I do think they'll fix that, and for those that are playing Warfare only, I hope they do it sooner than later.

Exactly! If sold separately, the 6 included squads alone would run $90-120 depending on old unit pricing of $15 per or new unit pricing of $20 per. The Walkers would be $20-25 each (Current Light Walkers are $25, but come with the parts to make one of two variants), and the heroes would be roughly $6-7 each based on dividing the hero pack by 3. So, let's do the math assuming smallest dollar amounts for the units/walkers/heroes…

For $80 you get $142 worth of minis and that's not even considering the included terrain (two ammo crates and two tank traps). A minimum savings of $52! $12 more dollars than you need to buy the rulebook, and since this set came out after the price increase, I'd guess it's more on the order of $82-94 in savings, on just the minis alone.

Wow! As a guy who's played WM/Hordes for over 5 years, and bought their 2-player starter set just to have the miniaturized rulebook, I'd say Dust beat their value. And the models are pre-assembled, pre-primed.

As far as getting a two-player set out in a timely fashion, Dust Warfare had 2 sets out before the rules were even play-tested.

Pretty hard to beat that! gui%C3%B1o.gif

Products take time to release. It's not possible to repackage and re-distribute every product immediately upon release. They will come out eventually, it would be bad business otherwise, but it will take time. Until then proxy, convert, or make a cutout paper figure to use for the unit you need.

Sorry for the weird double-post up there. Occasionally my iPad goes wonky on quote posts on these forums and the formatting gets all weird. In the first post, my comments didn't show at all. In the second, they show in quoted box. Just weird.

I totally get the individual heroes who don't come with the starter or the hero pack though! Although I contend the Cerberus one is worth it for the included building. The others are certainly not if you don't play DT as well.

Attention only goes so far, and I think that's what they need to fix immediately.

Take in my case, a relatively busy man with lots of hobbies. I'm attracted to Dust right now, I think it's fast, visceral and I want to play a bigger game. I'm willing to buy 300 points right now, and I do mean right now. The problem is I can't play the army I want because the models aren't available. How long do they expect me to be engrossed with this game before I move on to something else?

How does the marketing department over there at FFG not see this? This, is, in the business world, is simply laughable. It's not even about supply and demand at this point, it's about not having the proper supply at all.

I give it another week before I look at something else. 6th Ed. 40K is coming out, and so is their starter set and brand new miniatures for their new Codex Chaos Space Marines. I will come back and look to see if FFG's got their ish together, but I'm willing to bet tons of people won't give them another look back. In the business sense, that's a LOT of money lost. Which pretty much means whoever authorized this launch without the minis being available should be fired.

I haven't seen any official announcement in regards to this. Until then, it's all wishful thinking.
