Gen Con

By cadamec, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I am surprised and a bit shocked to find that there is only 1 WFRP event at Gen Con this year!!! And that is a 2nd edition adventure that is already sold out.

Why is FFG not supporting any of the Warhammer RPGs at Gen Con?!?! Is it possible that they will be announcing them in the future?

WFRP3 doesn't make a very good convention game. The amount of teaching that you've got to do, combined with the sheer amount of lose-able, imjpossible-to-replace stuff has kept me from running it more at conventions.

FFG also does not support WFRP through convention means (I presume for the same reasons)..as they can better support it by just putting out POD instead.

I would second this. I attended an event at a convention where the keeper was *very* prepared with explanation sheets, awesome little trays to keep cards, character sheets, fortune points organized in, and even on a huge poster was written basic info on combat, rally steps, etc.

That said, we had a huge combat and it took FOREVER because the mechanics were not know to a few newbies in the group. Despite constant explanations from the keeper and more experienced players, it simply takes a while to get the hang of it. It was frustrating. At one point I waited 45 minutes between taking an action in one round to the next. sorpresa.gif

Do you have any pics of the table setup for that particular game? The poster sounds interesting.

Also, does anyone know where THIS table covering came from? I would love to have something like this.

That's a neat table cover, yet it still doesn't help the fact that this game simply isn't for noobs..which is very much the point of intro games at conventions. Honestly though, I didn't have too much trouble with it at the last convention, but it sucks having to create and modify just to run the game (and worry about losing your stuff). I had one kid bend the **** out of one of my cards (anybody here every use reckless cleave? yea, that one).

Sorry, no pics although it was gorgeous. The poster was simply one of those large flip-tablets sitting on a tripod. The GM hand-wrote various sequence of play rules or interpretations of the dice symbols and would display a page depending on the game-play situation.
