Why does the Grudge Keeper have climbing tools listed in their trappings?

By Emirikol, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

What's the point of them in the grudge keeper's trappings compared to any other particular dwarf career?

The Grudge Keeper, IIRC, travels a lot through the mountains, from hold to hold and to isolated outposts. The kind of travel where climbing tools might come in handy.

Another thing about the grudge keeper. They are just walking computers evidently. They don't have any specialization to do what their purpose actually is: Get other dwarfs to fulfill the grudge.

They don't have Fellowship, Charm or Leadership. Instead they get Observation and Resilience (and toughness). Bizarre.

Well their prupose is to be a dwarven sholar with a warhammer. So he is a little tough tank with Intelligence, Folklore and education. Not a whimpy human student all day in his books, but a dwarf going around doing lawyer stuff and on ocasion drawing his personal book of grudges out and reciting something that has happened to the group earlier in their adventures to fuel them up. Or going to solve the grudge personally.

We had a female grudgekeeper in our dwarven only group and she put every adventure one or two lines into her book of grudges.

One was for the staff of the "Three Feathers Inn" for charging unjusted high beer prices. :)

So I think the Grudgekeepers stats and skills are quite nice. If you start him get him Fellowship 4 from the start and then advance to Thane. Also the Grudgekeeper might be more fun than a standard Ironbreaker to play.

That is very funny and the picture is great!

The thruth was actually that I forbid here to put the grudge in the book as she liked. She wanted to strike a grudge against humanity for the high beer prices. Reason is that the career ability of the grudgekeeper let him convert fortune dice from luck ones into yellow expertise ones if the target is in your book of grudges. Also this ability transfers to all dwarfs in your group. So having a grudge against someone is quite powerfull in my group.

So be sure as a GM that the target of the grudge isn't to abstract like…. mankind. :)

But more like orcs with their clan, or something like in Grudgelore "For this crime against dwarfkind I demand 10 dead Orcs to fullfill the grudge." So your bonus of yellow dice will eventually fade out over time. Of course if you kill orcs. On the other hand if they hurt some of you while you were killing them, then they are in for another grudge.
