Programming Idea

By NekoShogun, in Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG

Heya guys, I know a few of you will remember me, but that's not really the point of this topic. gui%C3%B1o.gif

I discussed making a program in the past that would do Anima stuff for you. I'm finally going to be getting started on this project, but I wanted to run the idea past the people that might get some use out of it, and possibly help me make it better.

The Main Idea I'm wanting it to do is take basic information from you about your player characters and the npcs that they are fighting, roll their initiatives, and order them for you so you don't have to kill yourself to keep track of all that info. I'm mainly doing this so that I can run a online campaign smoothly, and increase my programming portfolio. What else would you guys like to see if I was to make this available to everyone?

Hi,

some ideas:
- Live counter: How much LP someone has at a given point
- Critical: If the hit was a critical with 50% or 10% the remaining life points
- Reduction of penalties from critical hits
- Accumulation of Zeon and/or Ki (how much was accumulated, with a button on the end of the turn, to half it (and, if possible, with the advantages, which are modifing the accumulation))

This was only some ideas, which I have some problems to keep track.

In which language/for which system you will programming it?

So long,

Oh, thanks for reminding me of the Life Counter and Critical Counters. I hadn't thought about checking it on weak points though. And the other two ideas are great too.

The idea is to use either C++ or C#, given that is what I'm trying to learn. I'm still not sure not how to implement it, but I'm sure I can figure it out with a little bit of research. I'm also planning on it, for now being a windows thing, if there are people on here who would like it on another platform, please let me know. I am wanting to learn oh to make my code portable for other platforms, but I need to know what people would like it on, yea?

Im sure some ppl woul love it for android and iphone apps

Well, I just looked into this. I'm going to say that the PC version is going to come first, given this is what I'm trying to sell myself on when I get out of school in 4 weeks.

Android development is done in Java, which is something I'm willing and wanting to learn. iOS development is done on a Mac. I don't have the ability to go out and buy a Mac just to try to program a cool tool. It might come eventually, but it'll have to come after I have money and CAN buy something like that.

I would appreciate a version for Linux. I could try to test it for you on Linux and/or could try to port it myself (if you don't use some libraries, which are extremly for windows).

Yea, I'm looking into how to make it as portable as possible. I bet the functions to make a 'window' in windows and Linux are completely different, but it's something I'm willing to learn. I'll keep you up to date once I start programming the Linux version.

Is this still in development? Or was it never made?

I'm hoping someone could make something akin to this program for Anima. It allows you to do full character creation, gets updated automatically when you run it, to ensure everything's up to date with the latest books, and allows you to store the character, or print it out. It even allows you to update the character and keep track of expenditures as you go.

Something like that for Anima would be awesomesauce. I've asked the creator of Chummer if they'd be interested, but no reply yet.
