Classic question from a newbie!

By emilio68it, in Dust Warfare

Hi to everybody, i'am a happy owner from yesterday of a BIG box of Dust tactics (first edition). I'm thinking to add a new revised core box, and a couple of command squad (axis and SSU).And now? it' s a good choice or i could do better? for Tactics AND for Warfare, naturally!

Thanks to all

Emilio

PS i'm from Italy, someone italian on this Forum?

The origional box, the revised set and some command squads (Axis and Allies not the SSU one) are a good core force.

For Warfare you might want the NCO squads as well as they give you the option to take another platoon type without heroes.

Yes! not SSU….. :) sorry a little mistake!

Lucky you, those old core sets are getting rare and expensive. Revised core set so far gives you the best value for your money, they come with light walkers, and Heroes and good inf 3 units for axis and units for making another platoon in Warfare.

To have a lot of variety I would sugest getting command squads, snipers, and medium walker. That will give you a lot of possibilities in Tactics, also for warfare sniper boxes are must have, because you can get an extra sniper/observer support squad and they have interesting rules for Tactics. Command squad lets you make another platoon. Thanks to original box you have some tanks, but you don't have artillery one. Heavy command squads gives more unique abilities in Tactics and also allows you to make another platoon in Warfare but I bet you would like those zombies first gran_risa.gif

Get Hero pack for axis and zombies, don't bother with monkeys you won't get their Hero (Marcus) unless you'll buy expansion for Tactics and they have similar role on the table. Allies also lacking inf 3 units so I would get Red Devils, they are good across the board and you could get Hero pack for allies that's got theirs Hero as well, In Warfare you can paradrop them or if you want to specialise get Grim Reapers + Tank Busters. Allies hero pack also comes with good units to add to inf 2, Johny one eye, and Priest. I wouldn't buy heavies unless you got bigger armies.

Happy gaming

Great! thanks for the informations!

Well the core comes with a specific light walker… but one of the better ones for axis…

If your just starting out and have some people to play with its always good to proxy some stuff and find out what you would like to play with b4 you go on a buying rampage… or just buy some of everything!!! :) Build a list of what you like with proxy games and get that stuff first. Light and med walkers are on the same base so you can use the stuff from the core set for most anything.

Well great! with miniatures from AT43 or dread from W40k it's easy to find the correct configuration of the list!

Im actually considering ordering the bases and making a "imperial fists" or "iron hands" counts as army :) ImpFs just because i want to paint some up and IH because i think they would "theme" well with admech as other troops and such in the army.
