With the game likely being presented at gencon, shouldn't we be seeing more updates, previews or excerpts by now?

The last few games were… but this one? Well, they've DRASTICALLY reduced the number of RPG previews at every level. So… apparently not. I wouldn't be entirely shocked if the next thing we get will be people talking about the Free RPG day thing.
Definitely seems like the weekly previews of Deathwatch and Black Crusade are a thing of the past though. We're lucky to get more than one or two very very basic previews even on new supplements, whereas before it was 3-4 decent ones.
Yeah, I don't want to call them failures, but they definitely seem to have dropped the ball, here. I for one have asked more than a couple stupid questions here, and I can actually blame a little of it on the fact that they haven't told us anything new in an eon.
I really do wish they'd give us a little more to go on, before the book is just out.

I definitely wouldn't say failures. It's a lot more like… if you once had a store you went to and were always given some candy or something every time you were there, but they suddenly stop giving it - maybe you get too old, maybe new owners, maybe they can't afford to keep it on hand for every kid that walks in anymore, whatever - it's not them failing. they are under no obligation to give you candy, you're just used to it and love it. So it is disappointing when they stop giving it.
That's what this is. FFG is no longer giving us candy. I almost wonder if it's because of new Marketting people changing the focus. And I do imagine it's a lot of effort that might not be easy to do to keep giving those previews, especially for an RPG that probably isn't nearly as profitable as some of the stuff they do.

I do apologize; I wasn't referring to FFG as failures, but more that it is a failing they cut off our candy. To me, it's a bit more like "we want to sell you this food spread, to feed you and 10 of your guests, but it'll cost you a good chunk of change." I would very much like to taste test it, before hand, to see if they use wanky seasonings, or some such. I don't need the whole book, like test-driving a new car before I buy it, but it is a decent investment, Only War, and a bit more stuff on it, ahead of time, would've made me a bit happier to pay $50 for it. That's not to say I won't, because I'm sure I will, as there are several things I look forward to trying to do with it, if it is built to let me, but a bit more on what it'll be like, like is it going to be another Black Crusade-style, or will it be a Deathwatch/Rogue Trader-style rule set? Will we get vehicles? would have gone a long way toward me handing out my money.
As to the time, that's marketing. If somoene can sit in their basement, scanning each page, making a pdf., and putting it out for the masses a week after Only War hits, someone at FFG could already have the pdf., and show us a few pages, and say a little bit, just to get us salivating more. If I say "here, buy this sports car; it's right here, under this sheet." you aren't likely to buy it if I add "but you can't look under the sheet." It could be a Jag, a Camaro, or an El Camino. It might not have a working engine, or its paint might be scratched to hell. I like to have some idea what I'm buying, ahead of time. That's part of why I disliked Black Crusade; I don't plan on playing Chaos, and whether you like or hate the new system they use, if you didn't want to play Chaos, it's sort of a letdown.
