Blood Moon seems great

By Zozimusque Romanus, in Talisman

Just got my copy….and it seems like from what I can see, the cards in Blood Moon have a higher than average quality in terms of creativity and fun. I still think that the werewolf NPC could have been handled in a way that makes it more substantially different than the reaper, but all in all it's not too bad either. Because we play with the ice queen and the toad king too, I forget sometimes that this is only the second 'official' NPC, and that not everybody's board is getting crowded with them. I like the expansion a lot more than I thought I might. Can't wait to actually play it.

For those who are having trouble managing the NPCs and dragon scales, etc., I've made a template for printing graphics onto standard 5/8" dice via printable stickers. We roll one of these along with our movement die; on 1, the reaper moves the same number of spaces you do. On 2, the toad king moves (if you don't use him, ignore the graphic or find some other use for it). He also still moves when magic items are drawn or spells cast. On a 3 or 4, we draw a dragon scale if we're using that expansion. On a 5, the werewolf moves. On a 6, the ice queen. We also use the die for standard monster combat. It seems pretty efficient, and I like the look of them. You can download them in the 'downloads' section of talismanisland.com

cheers!

Hi Zozimus,

Are there some dangerous events, strangers or places included?

I know already that the living doll is a negative object:)

It is great! I received it today. Hurrray!!!

I am most pleased! I have looked through it and you should be quite satisfied with the danger quotient!

-Oberon (more detail later, or perhaps every one should experience for themselves. Needless to say I really am happy and see the day/night dynamic as having far reaching consequences, but there are quite enough good horror and shifty twisty…. shifts and twists)

Hi Velhart,

My favourite events, places, etc. are:

"Midnight Howl": whenever a character is defeated by an enemy, he also has to roll on the werewolf chart.

"Peasant Mob": if you are a lycanthrope, you're killed!

"Haunted Hamlet": during the day, it's like the Village, but at night, you must move a spirit to the space.

"Restless Dead": everybody's trophies come back to life

"Black Cat": a follower kinda like the poltergeist. You have to discard all your fate, and only get rid of the cat on a roll of 1.

"Wall of Fire": stops your movement, and if you don't have a Talisman, you lose a life. If you have one, you gain a Str and Cra.

"Fright Night": whenever a character moves into a space with an enemy, he must end his move there.

"Fallen Adventurer": if it's night, the corpse attacks with Str 4; if it's day, you get a free purchase deck object.

"Tricks and Treats": if you land on a character, you can take an object in exhange for this one.

I'm impressed with the sense of fun I get off of these cards; they're playful and their mechanics feel well integrated with the rules of the expansion.

I have sleeved all my Blood Moon cards today gran_risa.gif

I saw a lot of nice idea's in this expansion.

I want to get a good look at it, before i give this expansion a score.

I am happy with it.
