Which Power Armor is appropriate for Sororitas?

By Terraneaux, in Dark Heresy

Is there a canon answer as to whether or not the armor that Adeptas Sororitas are typically seen wearing is Power Armor or Light Power Armor?

It's basically Astartes grade Power Armor. You can find it in "Blood of Martyrs", p.118: 7AP All (8 on body), Weight: 35kg, +10 Strength (+5BS if used with helmet), Undepleteable Power Source (unless damaged).

Astartes grade armor is 8 all and 10 body. Standard Power armor is Armor 8 all. Sororitas armor is the light version. This is why it hugs their curves! corazon.gif

Standard power armor increases the wearers bulk to the point where individual features are not visible.

The Sororitas armour is definitely light. As already mentioned, there is an official entry in BoM. It is clearly light armour, though it is vastly better in quality to anything except the Space Marine kit. At thirty five kilos, the Sororita's armour has less mass than any other power armour, and the +10 STR and no size increase are typical for light power. It's really nice.

I had a horrid vision of a munchkin trying to get Sororitas armour with the "Lathe Wrought" upgrade from Rogue Trader… Have I mentioned that cross-game combos are a great way to break the system? sorpresa.gif

My response to such a question would be "where are you getting it from?". Individual suits of Lathe-wrought armour (of any kind) are essentially unique items crafted on commission, and given their origins they could only be crafted by a master Armoursmith within the Lathe Worlds. So, you'd have to find an Artisan or Magos with knowledge of both the methods of crafting the specific Lathe alloys necessary to craft armour and considerable familiarity with design of Sororitas Power Armour.

You could probably count the number of people in the entire Imperium with all the requisite skill and knowledge on one hand.

Sororitas use Sororitas Power Armour (check Blood of Martyrs) which is a special version of the Light Power Armour that has unlimited power supply, allows them to always count heavy weapons has Braced and has a special Critical Damage chart for the power source if they get hit in the back. The helmet also gives a bonus to Ballistic Skill, but only Battle Sisters of Rank 4-5 (I don't remember exactly) can have a helmet for their power armour.

It'd be interesting if in a future installment (on the TT or in the RPG) if a "heavy sororitas" armor variant showed up for their heavy shock troops or something to that effect

If you're looking for alternatives, I could offer this excerpt from a canned project of mine; this version of SoB armour combines GW Codex and WD fluff with small bits from the Black Library stories "Daemonblood" and "Faith & Fire": http://www.2shared.com/document/F_TJvrlv/dote_v03_eq2.html

A word of warning: This gear is somewhat closer to the Codex line of Astartes-level equipment and as such is definitively not suited for starting characters. In the concept I was following, distribution would have happened around level 5, before which the character would've been clad in a novice carapace (stats also included in the file).

Ave Imperator!

You would think that Sister Celestians would receive somewhat more improved armor, right? Perhaps a Canoness or Sister Superior?

Instead it seems the higher in rank they get the more religious artifacts they have access to. (I think)
