I love zombies, they're fast, tough and can gnaw anything that gets close to them. My axis army is themed around all the weird occultic science and tech developed by the axis force because there's just not enough evil
I've played the totem meister special platoon, experimented with using the serum special rule in an infantry force and swapped and changed different options to see which units/walkers compliment our undead minions. Yet I find they are often gunned down mercilessly through concentrated fire or lose the vital initiative in the closing turn allowing those pesky allies a chance to flee from the hungry horde. So Im starting this thread for people to share their own experiences with zombies. Their victories and failures. Tactical tips and silly mistakes. Lets not let the dead go hungry.
The zombie thread
Recon grenadiers, in order to pin down enemy units so they can't run away from the zombies. The flakvierling light walker is also king at this (as is its quad .50 cousin, for the other side). And slip in a unit of apes, particularly if you have Marcus. And I hope you're using pioneers; they got better with the new errata.
I find the twin covering fire from a ludwig and luther works pretty well. The massive 36 inch range means that unless there's limited visiblity you can produce some nice suppression. The hans is also great to bring on just as you get in charge range giving the opponent another tardet to split his attacks. I've just bought some sniper teams and looking forward to trying them out with zombies.
I've found totenmeister a little useless. I love the model but her abilities tend to be very unreliable and spending actions regening or being a medic slows the horde down. Gren X is fantasic for his damage output, but any ally player will rightly fear a unit containing him.
Recon gren are great but only a type 4 choice in a zombie platoon meaning you generally can only take one.
