Soldiers shoot everything?

By ninjaray, in Dust Warfare

Hi, I feel like this is wrong, but It's how I read it, "By default, when a miniature attacks it may use all of its weapons in the attack, however not all miniatures
in the unit must use the same weapon". So Soldiers can fire rifles and Grenades, if everything is in Range? It's RAW but feels wrong. If this is true, it really seems to favor the Allies getting in close with UGLs+ M1 assault rifle. The Axis equivalent, the Panzerfaust, just seems weaker to me.

Axis does seem to have better long range shooting, so maybe this is balanced. I don't have enough experience with the system to tell yet.

Not only can you shoot all your weapons, but you can shoot them all at different enemies.

So if you have a unit with 5 miniatures, and each has 1 assault rifle and 1 UGL, then you could fire 10 different weapons at 10 different enemy units, theoretically.

yep, any and all weapons if available can be fired, felkors on the money.

the trade off between UGL's and panzerfausts is that of damage vs vehicles. It generally means that grenadiers are slightly better prepared against all threats then the current allied infantary, yet they allied infantary has a higher damage output.

Do remember both panzerfausts and ugl's are reload weapons also.

And those 10 different enemy units could React and shoot you back! demonio.gif

Yes. That and the way cover and armor tends to absorb the first several dice you throw, mean that splitting fire happens very rarely. I think I've only split fire when I was attacking a vehicle and had weapons that couldn't hurt a vehicle so I used them to attack nearby infantry. Otherwise, I don't split fire much at all. It's not as exciting as it first sounds.

They say great minds think alike…

Apparently ours do as well, as I agree 100% and this is the only time I split fire as well.

Hmmm . . . I'm fairly sure now I've been scr*w*ng myself out of some shots due to application of logic . . . but to clarify:

Axis troops can fire their machine guns AND thier panzerfausts at the same time? I've been playing that they had to choose one or the other, as clearly they couldn't both be fired at the same time, as t hey're different actual weapons, as opposed to the UGL, which is an integrated system . . . although that really gives them an advantage, obviously . . .

So, just to clarify . . . my Axis troopers can fire both their machine guns and their panzerfausts in the same turn . . . ? gran_risa.gif

Yes, as a turn lasts longer than just one press of the trigger. I think of it as the attack starts with the 'Fausts firing off, tubes dropped, rifles shouldered, barrage of bullets commence. cool.gif

Yeah, i asked the same thing to mack when i was playing the demo at adepticon. The advantage to shooting up multiple targets is that you only need 1 "hit" to cause suppression… 3-4 dice per squad should do it… lasers suck!! :P

That's how I understand it. I was shooting my guns or throwing grenades, But you can do both.

Nice. Thanks, guys! This, coupled with the slight decrease in UGLs running around now that the FAQ is out . . . good times! cool.gif

I'm wiping mine off my iPad, Bastage! Totally worth it though, I needed that laugh today. (Recently found out I have a torn hamstring, and I'm out of the coed softball league I just paid $90 for my wife and I to play in - First game was last night). .

Spill all the beer?

No more, I promise….
