Lost in 6 turns with a 0 doom track

By Negalith, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Was fighting Abhoth

Things began badly when my beginning gear comprised of brass nuckles as my only weapon.. a TON (6) tasks and missions, and thank God at least I had a single elder sigh.

Shopping did produce a healing stone thank Nodens... and the only aditional weapon, a bottle of holy water. .. Palid Mask and a few books ... great...

First gate opens at the Black Cave.

Second gate Wizards hill in Dunwitch.

Got a character in and out of the the Black Cave gate fast with the elder sign and a find gate spell. Soon that gate is sealed and Aboth is down to 1 doom track.

Third Mythos Gate location.. Wizard's Hill. Monster Surge and Aboth Spawn comes out.

We defeat all monsters on the main part of the Arkham board.....

Fourth Mythos Gate location.. Wizard's Hill. Monster Surge and Aboth Spawn comes out.

Fifth Mythos Gate location.. Wizard's Hill. Monster Surge and Aboth Spawn comes out.

All 6 allowed monsters are in Backwoods Country ... as well as the three Spawn of Aboth.

A party member finished the Sacrifices to Make mission.. the doom track drops to 0.

Sixth Mythos Gate location.. Wizard's Hill. Monster Surge.. No more Aboth Spanw so Aboth awakens..

Did I mention we only had brass nuckles?

Abhoth doesn't awaken when all three spawn are out and there's a monster surge, he gets a doom token and you raise the terror level by two.

That sucks... I should have read it agan when it actually happened... of well. that game was too painful to last anyhow.

I still say the game is alive...

Also, Monsters in Dunwich have no maximum that they are allowed. They seriously don't count against the Monster Limit.

Now, they are going to be jumping into Vortices like crazy, so it's kind of worse. The Terror level is going to ramp up every time a monster commits suicide and the Dunwich Horror is going to come out wicked fast. So Abhoth is going to come out very quickly. What with the Terror Level hitting 10 and then going up again.

You are correct. Not just alive, but Intelligent.

Are we sure that the game is not one of Nyarlathotep's little plans to assess the potential success of his real plans?

If it is, I hope Nyar's taking it seriously—because he gets defeated more often than any of the other 15 Ancient Ones :-P

I thought that too but it's Glaaki who awakes when there are no more spawn.
