A Search and Detain Quickie

By Bercholo, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Lets say i setup Bran Stark and in plot phase before we all choose plots i kneel him to reveal search and detain and no first player has been determined yet, what happens?

I'm inclined to think that the effect would fizzle since it wont be able to find a FP but i know i have heard somewhere that in any given moment there always is a FP.

So there is always a FP after all, really glad i asked. Now i only need to find a way to tell my opponent we need to choose FP pre plot without raising suspicion.

Thanks Ktom for the quick and clear reply.

Do it in every game, even when you don't have Bran or a Maester. That way he won't know when you'll really hit him.

Yeah i was thinking something like that was the safest bet.

Followup question:

After a FP has been determined it stays that way until another initiative check has been made right? Or when the round is over FPs get a reset? I'm pretty sure it stays until a card changes it but if an argument comes up i want to be sure i got it right.

Once a First Player is chosen, that person is the First Player until something says he is not, or makes someone else the first player. If the First Player stopped being the First Player when the round was over, there would be no First Player until plots are revealed and, as we have already established, there is always a First Player.
