Star Wars X-Wing vs. Wings of War

By El_Tonio, in X-Wing

From what I've been able to gather from some videos I've watched and some reviews I've read, it sounds like there will be at least some similarities between X-Wing and Wings of War.

Are other folks under this impression?

If so, I've never played WoW, and was wondering if anyone on here had, and if so, what you thought of the game and converting it to a SW version of the game (hopefully with some interesting Star Wars twists)?

My impression is that his game will play a great deal like Wings of War. There are mechanics that are specific to each game, of course, but the bottom line is that movement is preselected, then measure with the use of an aid (template or card with the maneuver printed on it).

When Wings of War came out, it was primarily a card game. However, by the time it was dropped by FFG, it had evolved into a miniatures game. Most of the people that I play the game with think that WoW seems a little 2D without the minis. I love Wing of War, or Wing of Glory as it is now known with its new publisher. I continue to play it a great deal.

As to a Star Wars version of Wings of War - it's been done. I am having trouble finding it, but I distinctly remember Star Wars fighters and maneuver decks - all home-brew, of course.
