A great choice was made in getting Netrunner and hopefully it will be incredibly successful. Don't screw too much with a good thing, FFG. It is still highly regarded after all these years for a reason, one of which is that it didnt need to be screwed with much if at all.

Now they just need to reprint Heroscape and I will be in blissful heaven.

Depends on what you mean screwed with. The any number of cards in your deck was godaweful and made for the most degenerative play experiences at the tournament level it was ricockulous.

Outside of that… well, when you are right you are right. I think that the mechanics need to be updated a bit, but the game play should functionally remain the same.

Am I the only one a little perplexed on the LCG format? I do love LCGs, but I'm not so sure I'm ready to follow another game on a monthly basis (both for the time required for play and for the costs). But I guess I can just play with the core set cards…

LCG is better than the TCG model. $15 a month is a lot cheaper than buying umpteen packs of blind boosters hoping for that one rare.

I have to admit, the designers at FFG never cease to amaze me. The artwork of the cards is top-notch. I like the breaking hexagons design effect on the card structure, it gives it that nice cyberpunk atmosphere.

When FFG initially announced the Star Wars LCG I immediately thought that would be a good opportunity to try making it similar to one of my all-time favorites CCGs. But Android is obviously an even better fit. Can't wait!

I hope the German Publisher for FFG's games will translate the cards. Then I might finally be able to get a couple of friends hooked.

You could put any number of cards in your deck? Can you lose by milling, or is there a reshuffle? If there is any penalty for running out of cards and milling is a viable strategy, I could see it working in theory. I never played the game, so there's my next-to-worthless opinion. I'm curious as someone long-interested in the game how precisely it affected tournaments.

I had just finished reading Hyperion and the Fall of Hyperion when this game came out. I have fond memories of pretending to be a cyber-cowboy and trying to break through my brother's corporate ICE. The more I think about one of my favorite card games reborn in the LCG format, the more excited I am for this to be released right now.

Well, my summer birthday money is already spent. And spent well. Whoo-hoo!

P.S. I'm hoping FFG plugs Netrunner into their tournament circuit next year.

Ohhh, thanks for the clarification. Yea, I highly doubt FFG is going to keep that rule. Nothing to do with good or bad, just wouldn't fit their LCG model at all. Interesting though.

Well, my geek radar totally missed this announcement, but I couldn't be more excited. I never had the opportunity to play the original Netrunner, as none of my friends played, but I did buy some product over the years. Considering that cyberpunk is my catnip, and how much I love the Android universe this is definitely going to be a game I will play. I will play this over Star Wars, though I suspect I'll at least get a core game, since it is cooperative.

Now let's see if FFG takes this one step further and has Kevin Wilson create the hybrid Android Adventure Game using the Arkham Horror engine. Because I just don't have the time to mod it myself.

This will be the first true SF LCG from FFG. This is like a blinking sign for me that says: "Buy it, redsimon! Now is the time for you to start playing an LCG!"

What I like about A:N is that it takes part in a universe where Earth actually exists and the world is a dark and dangerous place. I like Fantasy, I love SF and dark futures.

I kinda think that the LCG format is the best compromise between the CCG format and just a plain boardgame. Or it could be seen as a boardgame with numerous expansions I suppose would be a more accurate way of looking at it.

I think what Garfield meant by that sentiment is that the blind buy rare chasing aspect was not suited particularly well to the mechanics. This is why the LCG format can be seen as the likely best way to handle the property.

When played with a limited environment as in a league or draft, Netrunner remains the greatest CCG ever released. LCG will be the perfect format.

I don't know anything about the Android universe but I have high hopes for this game.

I have many great memorys of playing Netrunner during lunch, has to be my fave CCG of the 90's I'm so happy to get a chance to own and have it again. My orginal set got distroyed to water damage in the basement… I still have the rule book on my gaming shelf… I love how diffrent both sides played.

The timing for this release was perfect I was actually on ebay looking for a starter box of the original netrunner. I played it once and really liked it wanted to pick it up. Now that FFG is re-releasing it makes it that much easier to get into it.

This is really great news, and it's great to see FFG and WotC working together (somehow) on this to make it happen. Can't wait to see the new cards. And man, is this a blast from the past.

I've heard a lot about the game, and I'm certainly interested. The Android universe (and boardgame) are great.

It's only the initial announcement and it looks like they succeeded in getting people talking about it.

Wormhole, sorry about your original game. It's gone, and honestly, I don't care.

I am, however, interested in this version of the game instead of some dead CCG that no one plays.
