I am new to Talisman and have the following basic questions:

1. I f you purchase an expansion set do you only use the expansion set adventure cards only when your players enter the expanded section (set) on the board?

2. Do you have to use one of the new characters provided when you are playing with an expansion set attached or is one from the basic set just as good? Is there an advantage to using one of the new characters for your entire game?

1. The board expansions have a seperate deck that is played on those boards. The other adventure cards can be played seperately unless they have an icon of the expanion on the top left (directly under the name of the card) those are only played when the board is used (but still drawn and encountered normally).

2. All characters are made to be playable with any game configuration.
