Nice, nice, NICE!
very nice. You've hit that sweet spot between "enough colour to be pleasing to the eye" and "practical". Good work
Sweet looking Sir!
I have been pulling figures apart and swapping different legs and torsos to add a bit more variety when I have more than 1 set of a certain unit so some of these may not be exactly as they come in the box. Just click on any picture to see the full shot.
Love the pea-dot pattern.
Good stuff! I love the terrain and the models are nice too.
Stunning buildings, and I love Sigrids mad look
Wow, I just wished my table looked that nice, I think I have to learn a lot more before I'll get to having something like this or win on a lottery.
Scenery looks great and Id be interested to know the colors you used and yout methods for painting the pea-dot camo its very cool!
I had a case of unused model master paints leftover from a 1/20th scale maschinen krieger binge I was on a few years ago, so I decided to use those instead of vallejo paints I normally use for mini's this scale. Base coat was a light coat of RALl 8017 1943 schokoladenbraun (dk. brown). Roughly 1/2 of the figures then had small patches of panzer dunkelgelb (yellow) 1943 painted on. I only did 1/2 because of the wide variations in German uniforms from die lot to die lot even for what was supposed to be the same camo pattern. Then came the tedious work of randomly painting on 3 different colors of dots to all of them and actually 4 different colored dots on the ones with the dunkelgelb patches since the brown could be used there again. Signalbraun RAL 8002, RLM 71 DUNKEL GRUN and RLM 82 DUNKEL GRUN were the other 3 colors used for the dots. I then used 3 of the same colors, the yellow (gelb), brown and RLM 82 dunkel grun (green) on my walkers as per various references they were the standard camo colors applied to vehicles, but did a filter of burnt sienna over them to tie them all together a bit better and make the detail on the walkers standout a bit more. Hope that helps.
The Flecktarn patter is very well done! If I may ask, how are you finding painting Dust models? My army is on its way from the internet currently and I have been playing with my mates giant set of minis. I can't wait to get my hands on them, but I am curious to know your opinion of them so far.
I had some reservations at first as to how they would paint up, especially after I saw the material they were made of. Thankfully those reservations were quickly dispelled, and the figures are quite easy to paint up. The only real problem I've had with them, are that occasionally a figure might have some rather noticeable molding lines and these can be quite hard to remove. The ones on relatively smooth areas can be sanded with a sanding stick but others can be a real problem.
