Unarmed combat and knuckledusters

By Elduir Darkwing, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

How does Unarmed Master interact with knuckledusters? Do the knuckledusters still count as being unarmed, therefore apply their weapon damage bonus to the unarmed master damage? Or does it cancel unarmed master entirely?

Any protocol on this?

Knuckledusters are a weapon, so it cancels out Unarmed Master. This does have the odd effect of having your Unarmed Master doing more damage with his bare fists than with a pair of brass knuckles, but on the plus side, the brass knuckles can parry, where bare fists cannot. How this would work, I have no idea.

I don't like the RaW in this case, but I don't worry about it too much because knuckledusters are fairly useless anyway.

I believe it cancels, also, BQ Mono KnuckleDusters are fun, better damage than bare fists (1d5+SB VS 1d5-3+SB), has pen (2) and oddly gets a +10 to hit. Not bad for an item under 100 thrones you can slip in a pocket :P

For 100 Thrones, you could get a compact laspistol, which you can also slip into a pocket, and which deals roughly twice as much damage (1d10+1) from across a room. Also, it's much easier to intimidate someone with a gun in your hand than it is to do the same with a knuckleduster.

And? The laspistol has an energy signature, is larger, harder to disguise and lethal.

Knuckledusters are lethal too; they don't cause Fatigue, they deal Wounds damage. Besides, there are plenty of better weapons that are comparatively sized; for example, punch daggers or lightning gauntlets.

Lightning Gauntlets? Those are pretty expensive and big, also, I pointed out the punch dagger to you as the best weapon for the price, but you can disable someone with brass knuckles, not so easily with a laspistol or punch dagger.

Good or Best shock gauntlets can be disguised as regular armor gauntlets or even regular clothing. Though they aren't cheap, 300 or 1000 thrones respectively, you don't have to put them away to use another weapon and they are Shocking, which helps a lot.

Well, those, but by the time you are paying 300-1000 for them and getting dragged further offtopic.

So Brass Knuckles probably don't work with the unarmed combat, but what about the SHOCK GLOVES?

If you are referring to the Lightning Gauntlets (The Inquisitor's Handbook pg. 97), you must first ask the question: Do Armored Gauntlets (The Inquisitor's Handbook pg. 162) cancel out Unarmed Master?

In my opinion, they do. One is no longer using the impact of their fists to cause damage, but rather, the metal surrounding the fist to cause damage.

Ah, but I am not referring to the Lightning Gauntlet in IH, I am referring to the "Shock Gauntlets" from RH (pg. 152-153) which are in their best quality form a simple "leather" glove with some circuits on them to deliver electric shock to them.
