NOVA Regional, SCC Regional Same Weekend. Is there a conflict?

By Umigame, in UFS General Discussion

It was brought to my attention that right now the Nova Regional and SCC are both on the same weekend. Now SCC is down in Florida, and the Nova Regional is up in the Washington DC Area. So both Scuba and I were wondering does this create a problem for anyone. Basically is there anyone who would commit to go to both events if they were on diffrent weekends? Are people having to choose between events, or is the distance great enough between both events to not cause a problem.

If anyone has strong feelings about this, please post here. Scuba and I are trying to make sure that we can accomidate everyone, and that both events can hit the magic 32 people, so we really don't want to pull people who would go to both events.

So let us know

Thanks

Umigame

going to Nova, since we can drive down form NY .

should be centipede, myself, goo, and maybe one other in the car. a handful of local bums might take the bus -
so current NYC count would be 3-7 in attendance.

also the tn regionals is the same weekend too. something needs to be done about this. ffg dropped the ball on this big time.

Yeah that when the SEC Regionals is(dang Scott beat me too it - . - ) You win this one Yugi boy.

I talked to Unigame about maybe moving his to another date so we dont have 3 regionals in the same weekend sigh.... He said he will see what he can do I just have a feeling so far from the low turnout for the last 2 regionals I hope something can be worked out .

i am not gonna make it to the ten or scc regional so nova is good for me.

Paul called me today asking if I could change my date so I am in process of trying to contact all the player groups to see if they can come in may so the SCC might be changed I will make a post when I know more .

wheres the TN regionals? id like 2 try and show up and the NOVA one as well........there is at least 4 of us at the moment and 3 more undecided at least for the NOVA event im sure we would make the trip 2 TN if they arent so close together in dates

Does anyone know the name of the con or where its located exactly? i cant find it anywhere

So about these regionals. Taken from the UFS regionals page

On what criteria will Regional events be approved?
Regionals must be properly supported and promoted by the tournament organizer. Original ideas to make the event memorable is important. Regionals must have a minimum of 32 participants to be viewed as a Regional level tournament. Willingness to coordinate and work with the larger regional schedule and vision in mind will aid towards approval. Tournament Organizers must demonstrate an ability to make their event special, and be excited to promote their event.

32 People. That means several playgroups from all over need to come for this to qualify as a regional. You guys need to find some new dates, or these won't even be considered actual regionals. And if you can move them, you can gurantee that some part of ATL will at least be able to make it to the florida and Tennassee ones, if not DC, though it is a bit further away. Please find some new dates, our playgroup loves regionals, but for them to be awesome, a lot of people need to show up.

I am working on it right now I just need confirmation on if the date I have planned will work for everyone.

Well, 23 players is low compared to last year's 64 but it's aiight. We had a blast.. quality over quantity. I don't think I can go to any of these events. I'm shooting for the Texas Throwdown which is about 6 hrs away compared to 15 hrs drive of the 3 in question. I will most likely not be able to go to them. With weddings spread all over from friends to relatives, a store to run, and TT, Nationals and worlds soon to come.. I'm limited to what I'll be able to attend.

My players may think otherwise.. but most likely they'll follow me to Texas for sure.

While I dont know which one or ones we were planning on going to all 3 of these events are within driving distance for lion stance (its like every regional left that we could go to is the same weeken) so I dunno whats gonna happen with that

This still isnt telling me where the 3rd regional is....someone? anyone? how can i plan with no knowledge????

only 3 people on these boards that arent staff know the info, and thats Eric, Scott G and Deana, and something tells me they are being told to keep quiet until everything is ironed out, i know i talked to him roughly a month ago about this and he said they STILL hadnt ironed everything out, so BE PATIENT the rest of the mid south, as promised a long time ago, Mid-South will have a regional, hopefully this one will be more successfull than the Murfreesboro AOP was, hope to see the Western TN guys show up again as sakendo won last year, and team ATL hope to see them back.

I will let everyone know when I can be offical about it. So just hang in there, it will be either me(Eric) or Scott Gaines that will let you guys know. But on a lighter note, I AM SO PUMPED! The will be my first "big" UFS event, so I hope I get to play against some cool decks. I just started roughly late summer-early fall, so I excited to level up and to quote Scott "beast" lol.

As for the reginal in VA I've already made arrangements for Team Tapout to bum my house the night before to shorten their drive as well as a meeting place for the rest of the maryland group. If that one is going to be changed notice ASAP would be appreciated since I am going to house 6-10 people for a weekend for the drive down/back. Also if anyone coming from further north wants join the little convoy let me know. I will do my best to provide pizza the night before for last minute building and trash talking.

My group and I plan on being at the DC Regional. Didn't even know there were any others.

Are we going to have to pay to be at con to just go to the TN regional and then pay to enter the regional?

I would like to know the same and as a update it looks like everyone is going to be down with the SCC in may I just need for sure confirmation form ATL this weekend then it will be official .

only cost should be to get into the con. also my store owner is looking into making it cheap to get in the con like 10 bucks a day or 20 for both days somethiong like that. i don't belive the fee to play will be much. 5 bucks tops. and our prize support is going to be bonkers. mats to all of top 8, lots of foils, art prints and door prizes.

tons of epicness. plus you can challenge me in legacy and if you beat me you can have any card out of my trade binder.

... did i just ... no i didnt... you just challanged ANYONE to legacy... ok one restriction YOU CANNOT play Emptyness Dhalsim, hell i'll take on that retarded Tira deck of yours the moment i get in there. Still wish you guys would have gotten a STORE to hold the tourny instead, but hey i think this will be good in the long run now to see a member of Team TN win it be it from Cookeville Corp, be it from Memphis or be it from the Nashville region.
