Duplicate rare cards from one chapter pack?

By Morgra, in 4. AGoT Deck Construction

Do I need duplicate chapter packs if I want to make a really strong deck? Example, let's say there is an overpowered card in "Beyond the wall" that I may want to use multiple rares of.

I haven't played much but I am trying to budget things out and select my house.

Be aware that you can not have more than 3 copies of a card with the same name in a single deck unless it has the infinity symbol. However, seeing that you are using the Beyond the Wall chapter pack. You would need to purchase it if you wanted more Benjen Starks or Stonesnakes.

are there cards u can run more then 3 off ???? im pretty sure the infinity symbol means it will and keep comming back from the deadpile or something like that.

I'd think the only chapter packs you'd need more than 1 of are the 40 card packs. The 60 card packs have 3 each of their 20 cards, the 40 card packs have 3 each of 10, then 1 each of the remaining 10.

The infinity symbol means that the card can be returned from your discard or dead pile after you fulfill its requirements. The rule is 3 of each card with the same name per deck. There was a way to get around that restriction in the CCG days, but now it is a hard limit.

As was mentioned above, the 40 card chapter packs are the only ones that don't come with 3X of each card, so those would be the only ones you may need to buy multiples of. Also, if you are playing casually, most people will allow you to use proxies so that you can test out cards in a deck if you don't own a physical copy of it. If you do want to play in tournaments though, you aren't allowed to have proxies in your deck.
