are they going to come out with stats for regular ww2 vehicles for dust ?

By MattRendar, in Dust Warfare

while reading the dust wars comic i noticed alot of other ww2 vehicles fighting along side the new walkers such as half tracks a stuart light tank and jeeps . is fantsy flight going to release stats for these other " inferior " vehicles to support their more tech superior brothers ? in my mind the new walkers must be costly to feild lots and lots of them . just an idea .

I'm sure at some point probably. They're mostly classified as Armor 1 and 2 vehicles in the rulebook such as jeeps, trucks, ect., with no armor being for 1 and with some armor from bullets for armor 2.

I would assume so, since the rules for Wheeled and Tracked are in the Core book!

Indeed, the original comic shows the Germans using a Skdkfz 251 for transport. And, since the construction of walkers uses the McGuffin 'VK,' and I would assume tanks don't, we come back to the old Battletech problem: Why are we using these hideously hard-to-come-by things when we can simply overwhelm a foe with more conventional arms? The answer is thematic, usually: Walkers are cooler (the Japanese answer). But since the weapons being used are just as effective on these super-material 'VK' walkers as they are against tanks (moreso, I would think…let's face it, the average 88mm Rakatenpanzerbuchse would scarcely dent an 'obsolete' Tiger I), then why aren't tanks a fully viable option, particularly since, by 1947, an M24 Chaffee would be a real challenge for a Mk II Pkl, and an 'Easy Eight' Sherman would tend to do even better, and I'm not even gonna talk about what a T34/85 could do…or a JS II. Or a Pershing. Yikes.

That is, if we want to break the somewhat stereotypical Japanese fantasy of single-man mecha, making essentially a tank worked like a fighter plane. I wonder why this concept came about in Japan, post-war ('way post-war, sort of the 70s)?

I have the dust graphic as well, and was thinking the same thing. I would love to see some conventional vehicles but the only problem is will FFG make any money out of it - as soom as the stats were released the hardcore players/ modelers (i include myself in this catagory - i have to pimp every game!) are surley going to go out and buy 1/48 scale kits rather than wait for FFG to produce them. However i will then have to buy minis to crew them!

It would be awesome if they made some stats for these , but i wont hold my breath!

I don't see the problem here, we've got the charts for them, so should be very simple to create stats for them, I think there is pleanty of 1:48 vehicles to proxy and I wouldn't mind if somebody would use them in a friendly match, maybe not so in a turnament.

I think we would probably see the same kit as the helicopter. A squad of 4-5 guys with a little jeep, a little truck for so and so, and the likes that way it would force you to buy the jeep/truck and guarantee that the vehicle that could be purchased as a kit would be purchased with the guys.

Forget 1/48 scale models; they're too big. Warlord miniatures sells WWII vehicles in 28mm scale, which is the scale of Dust and Warhammer. Not bad prices; a German halftrack goes for $29. I was disappointed to find that they have none of the M3 vehicle line, lacking both halftracks and scout cars.

While not official and for Tactics.

Just scroll down. All the tanks you could want, oh and Dust Tactics/warfare is indeed 1/48 or O scale, the guys are just a bit bigger like how GW say they are 28mm but really 32mm.
