Errors in New Careers from OW & HC

By Bjork1, in WFRP Rules Questions

I have found som errors in the new careers. The Preceptor career says it's a Basic career, but this is clearly the lastly career in the knights tier. Should then the knight career be stated as a Basic or should it be left as an advanced?

there are also a numerous highranked careers which does not state which careers you must have completed in the forehand. For instance The Magistrate, Crime Lord and Champion Have all 4 talent sockets, but neither states from which career you must have completed first.

The same are for those advanced careers from all the chaos goods supplements. Is this an error made at the production or is it possible to become a magistrate straight from another career matching the four skills listed under the careers? This is very confusing

The Perceptor is a mistprint, it should say advanced.
However that's not really a problem since you have to have completed Knight of the Inner Circle before advancing into Perceptor, which in turn requires you to have completed the Knightly Order career, which requires you to have completed a noble career. All in all you have to be rank 4 at least to advance into perceptor, regardless of the "basic" (it's still an error though).

They don't have a requirement for previously completed careers, anyone can move into Magistrate for example. The normal way of handling careers in WFRP is that they do not have to follow a specific path. This gives the players more options to tailor their characters however they want. In Hero's call (on page 21) they recommend that elite and heroic careers are restricted by character rank though, making elite ones avaliable at rank 4 and heroic at rank 5, your example - the magistrate - using this rule makes sure that the "powerful" careers containing more talent sockets etc. wouldn't be avaliable until rank 4 (or 5) anyways. The wizards, priests and knight career paths are some examples of exceptions, as they differ from the norm since they require you to completE specific careers to advance into the next career in the ladder.

k7e9 pretty much summed it up nicely.
