Nothing has been announced as yet about any future expansion, apart from the fact that at least 3 expansions are planned as mentioned in John Goodenough's article on Talisman Island -
" So what does all of this mean for the future of Talisman? Whenever a new component or rule adds to the light side of Talisman, the balance will be maintained, and something will be added to the dark side. Upcoming expansions will introduce additional opportunities to gain fate – as well as other bonuses – but an equal amount of dark encounters will be added to the mix. In fact, FFG’s third Talisman expansion alone will feature more “Toadarific” encounters than all of the 2nd Edition expansions combined! "
I think the future will shape up nicely for Talisman fans!
I'm very satisfied with FFG contribution to the game. I played it on Sunday and I immediately noticed that the play was really satisfying for everyone, unlucky ones included.

I really hope we'll see the Toads on the board once more! I like Fate, but I think it will make Toad-ed Characters more rare than usual. It's not easy to roll 1 twice in a row.
in my last game, my friend has been toaded 4 or 5 time !
he re roll a one, he roll a 2 (bad too) and reroll a 1 , ....
I'm not a big fan of abundant toading... like anything turned commonplace, its loses its luster and gets boring. But I too think Fate was taken too far in some areas (and not far enough in others).
A character doesn't get to apply its Fate to re-Enemy rolls in combat, so why in the world should it be able to apply Fate to personae on the board or cards? We've already house-ruled that when any personae is represented behind a roll on for a space or card, it indicates someone else is making choices, and it's "fate" is in play. Players cannot use Fate to re-roll any rolls outside of their own control, just as with Enemies.
That puts toading back the way it used to be... neither rare nor common, but still comic and tragic all at once.
Toading rate is 1 Toad in 16 games (when Fate has been used, even without Fate replenish board erratas used), mostly 3-player games, a pair of 2-player. Once a game used to be the norm, which was okay by me.
