Its defitneiyl NOT broken.

It's an easy combo, but its just as easy to neutralize and I would have to see way more examples of it putting Bara in Top Eight to even start to call it broken.

Only Stag Lord can make such a definitive statement and not come close to properly spelling/typing definitely .

'Tis my specialty. (Lucky, I got "tis" right there on the first try).

I was going to reference our talk, Duck, but I didn't want to quote you "out of school" so to speak. (That's where my "third best" evaluation comes from - right from the conversation Duck and I had). Val is amazing in a control or combo build where she is protecting the pieces - but I am not sure there is a broken Baratheon combo build out there yet.

I agree with clu that Baratheon has probably the best control card in the game in Black Cells - but I have yet to see them leverage that into Tier 1 dominance. I really liked my Shadows Baratheon build - but testing just showed it losing to Choke way too much, given the City Plots. Bara can kind of do control - but everyone else does it so much better: Does Val really make it that appealing?

At least this year we'll see it play out in the field.

I agree that Bara control loses to choke most of the time. My Bara control deck that I played in Tulsa had its only loss to choke.

Just out of curiosity, how can you even break TLS+Val? It is strong in some situations, but doesn't win you a game right away.

Citadel Law, Rule By decree and Threat from the East (plus TLS on the flop) will leave your opponent with one card in hand. If you draw Val, it is essentially game over.

Val + TLS will never equal autowin, but it is an exceptionally easy combo to pull off that gives you +3 cards every turn with no additional resources required. Until your opponent finds a way to remove one of the two characters, it is a huge advantage in any game. There is no other draw engine that is comparable.

What I like about TLS and Val is that they are targets. Sure, you can kill them, but that just leaves all my other beastly renown characters on the table. It's pretty much head or gut for the opponent. Additionally, playing Val allowed me to not play caches, which not only makes my deck have a cheaper curve, but makes opponents attachment kill a dead draw vs my deck.

I don't think its an OP combo, but its something the opponent HAS to deal with. I like that Val and TLS eat up some of the targetted removal that allows my game winners to stay untouched.

Spot on Fieras,

~ and its a real problem for the other Five Houses, because there is so little removal and spot control available.

Nice Tr, Jim. You and I need to play more. I will amke an effort to get to the city at least once a month.
