AGOT Regional - Joust Finals Video and Many Other Reports

By zachbunn, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

We hosted a regional for Game of Thrones in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 21st. We had seventeen in attendance including the hosts of Two Guys, One Throne and Two Champs, One Chump! Our event was structured as two rounds of melee, followed by four rounds of joust with the overall highest point total being declared the champion.

Just this morning we posted a video of the joust finals, featuring Steven (running Greyjoy choke) and Jake (running Greyjoy choke). Both players entered the game at 3-0 in the joust. We also posted the top 8 players joust decks earlier this week.

There have been several awesome blog reports posted on the site as well. Here are some links to a few of the top players who have blogged about their experience at the Tulsa regional:

Philip Rowland (2nd Place)
Larry Gross (3rd Place)
Buz Hannon (5th Place)

A big thanks to everyone who attended and made this a wonderful event. Also, a thanks to Fantasy Flight Games for producing such a fantastic game and allowing us to host one of their regional events. We look forward to supporting this game for many years to come.

Was a great event! And it's an interesting experience rewatching a game you played in. Little mistakes are caught!

Awesome all around, guys! Glad to see the video, and sorry I had missed the posting of the decklists earlier this week.

Good report, enjoyed the video's as well! Keep it up.

I love watching these videos with the commentary. I even watched the monpoc one and I have never even played that game.

Why no love for Lannister at your tournaments? My Lanny deck would have rolled those Greyjoy scrubs :)

This is a pinnacle of tournament awesomeness. I can't explain how much of a boon this is to the community. Well done, you have set a standard for tournaments to come!!!

The power counters in the video were completely awesome.

I really enjoyed the video with commentary. For someone that is new to this game, and is attempting to get back into a card game competitively, diving into an already established game with a large card pool can be overwhelming. At the moment, I'm supplying all the cards to my play group, who are all more casual players than competitive, and I've only been able to play a handful of games against them. Being able to watch top-level competition played out, with explanations of the decision making process, along with alternative plays that could have been made, is invaluable. There were a couple plays in the video that had not occurred to me yet.

I've read some articles and listened to podcasts, and I've found those to be a helpful resource as well, but personally, I felt that I got more out of watching this video. Most likely due to lack of games played and the level of competition I've been able to play against so far. Thanks for making the video. Hope to see more like it.

Thank you for all of the feedback on the video! Glad you guys enjoyed it. We'll make it a priority to get more of these videos out and to keep pushing AGOT. It's easy with a game this good :)
