It will be interesting to compare results. I suspect that everyone will play Targ burn at Rochester.

I don't doubt it. Targ Burn was already 27% of the field at Kublacon.

I updated/edited OP.

I voted in favor of allowing the chapter pack, even though it apparently will have no bearing on the outcome :P To be honest, I'm headed to DC either way, so it won't affect my attendance. I am tired of the maester-dominated field though, and a change-up would be nice :)

Glad you're still coming!

I think the field will always be maester-dominated as long as they don't get further errata to the agenda, unfortunately. Incinerate is good, but if you can still rush out Conclaves for 0 or 1 gold, that will always be near impossible to target burn. I think it will just further solidify maesters run out of martell, and targ will shift to summer or KotHH again.

You know you could always netdeck Fieras's Bara deck. I know how much you love Bara and Martell. :P

2/3 decks I'm considering are not maesters.

Brian, is that 2 of the 3 decks you are considering are not "Maester's Path?" or decks that are 2/3's completed are mostly non-maester. :)

and

~Is that a weighted fraction based on your current relatively likelihood of piloting them?

And also how many of those 2/3 do you consider good because they have a good chance against Maesters?=)

I may be in favor of keeping VM out of a regional for a different reason. Let's say I did not hear about the announcement that it is now legal(Possibly because I am blind or don't have internet). Would it be reasonable for me to show up to the regional with an out dated deck? Maybe I would have added Ser Kevan Lannister to my agendaless deck so I can laugh in the face of a MIL challenge when I have no weenie to blast.

That is all.

Very true. The social justice perspective of AGoT.

I'm not saying a Targ-dominated metagame would be more fun or more balanced, but it'd be a little different and interesting to see what people come up with at relatively short notice. I'll likely have an "FFG-legal" regionals deck along with me for casual play, if people want to try their hand against Incinerate.

Despite the stagnant environment, it'll still be fun to see everyone and draft cube after the main event :)

Also, I should note Dan, I think you're doing a great job and very responsibly informing participants in advance as best you can. Nice work on your communications (even if I would ideally like to see the opposite result). This is a good example of how communications should work.

Really looking forward to the event!

I know with such a short time left I am glad that the pack is not legal. The deck I really want to play(believe it or not, not siege!) is one of the most fun decks I've ever played, I just don't know if the Jamie player in me can be content with losing 90% of the time to Pavel's martell maester control deck. To be honest I feel like some of the other players in this topic, I am so sick of maesters its not funny.

I have not had as much time to look at tournament results as I would like from the regional season, but so far there is at least 4 regionals won by 4 different houses all playing the maester path. The agenda is simply too good, I hope that it gets looked at soon after regionals so that other agendas and deck types have a chance to shine again. I feel like if you want to be a compative player in the game right now, you either play maesters or you run a ton of anti maester tech…

Maesters have certainly done well. My biased opinion is that they need to make the agenda less good. Mostly because I don't enjoy playing against it and I want it to be played less.

I actually think that a static environment leads people to experiment more. I'm actually going to run a fairly Shagga deck - i.e. not maesters.

What do you do about players that may arrive to the DC regionals with VM cards in their deck because they missed this forum post as the announcement?

I just wanted to make this point because I just saw one person on agotcards.org get pumped that VM is a legal CP for the DC Regional even though you had announced it as not.

It sucks that they didn't give better notice about CP legality.

I have done what I can to make sure it's at all the places they might look, including here and the venue website. I'm also going to send out an email to the east coast listserv and post on BGG today. And my contact is on the regionals announcement page.

I will also have all my cards available on loan to players with VM cards to be able to switch out illegal cards before the tournament begins. I'll also try to make sure that a couple other of my meta mates can bring their collections. I don't anticipate there being any people that show up like this, but it's good to be safe.

And I can make an announcement on agotcards as well, though not at work since I only have IE…

I think that's a great solution if anyone shows up without hearing your announcement!

I was just informed that there will be a quarter million girl scouts and their chaperones on the National Mall on June 9 for their annual Sing-Along (popular songs include I am a Pizza, Dum-Dum-Da-Da, and Baby Duck. I didn't see anything by Justin Beiber fortunately.) Make sure to allow an extra bit of time for travel especially if you are driving downtown, or metroing and transferring to the Blue/Orange line at L'Enfant Plaza metro stop. A good alternative may be to take the Red line to Capitol South and walk the 6 blocks to the venue.

Also, Metro will be closed between the East Falls Church and West Falls Church stops on the Orange line on June 9-10. This is in VA, so it may not affect most people, unless you decided to get a hotel out there.

So, if I hear what you're saying… if you don't run maesters, it will be Stark (most likely winter, either way big dudes with hand control) or GJ winter? My guess is the maester deck is something similar to Corey's maester martell rush? Either way, the decks we will see are the same (the environment hasn't evolved) as we've been seeing in the past 3-4 months. The only big change in is the revelation that Bara is actually more competitive than it originally seemed. DC tends to dislike Bara though, so I don't expect to see much…hope I'm wrong.

@Maester_Luke: I have 3 built decks. 1 is a maester deck. It's practically the same as what I played at Days of Ice and Fire back in November. It's rush oriented and within a few cards of what Imrahil used to win a regional with the biggest difference being restricted card choice. After my poor showing of 2-2 at the Battle of the Blackwater Bay in DC when I went for a more control version of the deck, it's reverted back to rush.

@Twn2dn: The other 2 decks include one I've played a fair amount lately and a new deck type I'm trying to create. There's no weighted averages here. Odds keep changing as to which deck I'll choose to pilot. I want to play the new one, but I need the time to figure out how consistent it will be.

I played a non-optimized Martell/Summer rush, and went 3-2, losing to the 5-0 Stark/Maesters and a Targ/KotHH deck that had a 1st turn Kraznys. :/ I lamented my lack of Cyvasse in both games. :( This is what comes of not playing or reading much for two months.

Cyvasse is key in any Martell deck

Yeah, it's the price you pay for waking up at 10:35 without a deck and trying to pull together your cards from 3 fractional Martell decks that are same-sleeved.

Wah-wah.

Yeahyeahyeah. You know you pulled 'em to play A Pinch of Powder. ;)

Well, you really can't have enough bounce, now can you. (And please don't remind me… Everytime I see TLS or Meera I think, "And my card had to get nerfed?")
