The British Paratroops Platoon

While some think that the list building(I hate people who say "list building", I would rather steal from Dreamblade and use the term "Warband") is limited, I think that with future releases we will have much variety in "Warband" building. I think a cool Platoon idea would be the British Paratroops. Action Jackson would lead the way with four sections of British Paratroops. All five of these units would have the "Air Drop" special rule as well as the "Reserved" special rule which would put your anywhere on a table edge at least 12' away from your enemy. There would be two problems with this, first, I think the Reserved special rule brings your guys in as a Marched Move, and second, if you spread out your units you would probably be out of command range with Action Jackson. This Warband might not win any tourneys but it could if you picked the right stuff on the battle builder. Anyone out there think they can make this work?

I ran this platoon last week, and loved it. The trick is to take a 2nd platoon that has 2 radiomenin the command section. This gives you 2 out of command range orders, Action Jackson can order himself, so you're good on 3 of your Red Devil platoon sections so you can still be pretty flexible with orders.

Nice, what was your exact platoon, was it competitive, I like it because I think it adds some randomness to the game, lol. Did it screw with your opponent?

I did Action Jackson with a command Red Devil squad + 2 Red Devil squads. Then a Combat Platoon that had The Boss w extra radio, Gunners, Recon Boys, Death Dealers w Priest, Steel Rain and Observer Team.

It did pretty well, the armor 2 guys got chewed up pretty good, but I kept the Devils in waiting until I really needed them and then dropped them in covered spots close to enemy positions. Ended up pretty effective. I will definitely use them again. The biggest thing I like about them is you get to choose when they come down, so it definitely keeps your opponent wondering.

I haven't ran two platoons yet, I can barely wrap my head around the one..

Felkor,

How can you run three radiomen in the same Command Section?

You take a hero as your plattoon leader… have them join a unit of observors (2 radios). You then buy the improved command… 3rd radio.

Yup, mariettabrit has it right.

Not sure if it's a great way to go, but I think I'll try it out sometime for fun.

Hey Felkor that an improper use of the improved command, it states that only the Ranger Command/Kommandotrupp or Ranger Attack Squads/Sturmpioniere can have the additional radioman added.

Darn it, you're right!

Well that's no fun.

Its still a cheap and easy way to get 2 radiomen without spending your Platoon upgrade. It would still cost you a support slot though…

Although I believe the one platoon lets you field observer squads as a 4th section instead of support.
