An introductory game battle report.

By caecitas, in Dust Warfare

Evening Gentlemen.
With people seeming keen on having battle reports written up, Ive taken it upon myself to document a game im playing this evening against a friend of mine as his introductory game to the system. While traditionally id like to document said game with photos, my camera is currently on the fritz so ill be keeping it clear as simple.
Axis forces

----Blutkreuz Platoon----

Command - Sturmpioniere
1st section - heavy laser grenadiers
2nd section - heavy flak grenadiers
additional hero - Lara
1st support - I-C Hans
140 points force.

for those of you with a copy of the revised core set, this force is no real shock. With my opponent yet to arrive this evening, he will be taking part in building a list with available miniatures. More to follow soon.

allied forces
----combat platoon----
Command - ranger command squad
1st section - ranger weapon squad
2nd section - heavy ranger assault squad
3rd section - recon ranger squad
1st support - blackhawk

----Assult Platoon----
command - Ranger attack squad
1st section - recon ranger squad

155 points force.

clearly this gives the allied forces an advantage points wise, yet as this is an introductory game its not an issue between the pair of us. deployment to follow soon.

after a quick explanation as to how the scenario builder works, the following has been bidded upon -

key posiiton, close engagement, limited visability.

Axis Command.

certianly from the axis side, this seemed like an obvious call. With the allied force outnumbering me by almost 2-1, the break the line objective had to be avoided at all cost. While limited visability will make little difference to these two short range forces, close engagement should allow me to wittle down the volume of troops ill be facing as quickly as possible.

Allied Command.

Using my previous knowledge from other wargames, and with the Axis Commnad player explaining the units quite well, I tried to use my senario points to deny my opponent the advantage rather than give myself one. We'll see how that pans out!

turn 1-

with the axis claiming initiatve with a single command point, all effort was put into supressing the inevitable hoard of allied infantary. With the flak troopers firing into the exposed recon troops. The allies during their command returned fire.

unit phase

the axis attempted to consolidate and fire into the enemy infantary, the lazer grenadears failing to inflict any casualties and the command section moving up to support.

The allies in turn in their unit phase attack the axis walker with their assult units, punches its armor to 1 HP left.

turn 2

with the axis once again confirming initiative, orders were given to pull the walker back towards the supporting infantary, while the flak troops opened fire on the squads lining the tank treads for defence. the allies retorted with the command to fire the longtom, missing. The allies manage to consilidate on the enemy, wiping out the axis command.

turn 3

the axis decide to spend no command, allies jump in. flak guns make short work of the jumpers. (allied player has sudden moment of rule forgetfullness).Laser troops take out the blackhawk. The allied assult platoon command moves forward, comming within 12 inches of both the flak and lazer heavys, with both opening fire and wiping the command down to a man.

turn 4

fire is exchanged and units moved into cover for firing lanes. No losses on either side.

turn 5

the axis lazers run for the objective, the flak troops unload their last salvo on the gunner squad in cover and finally eliminating it.

objectives are revealed. Allies 3 points, axis 2.

sadly the game pattered out towards the end, though this was mainly due to a battle of attrition. All in all, a wonderful introduction though

Sounds great and am looking forward to my first game. What happens to Laura ?? Did she do anything ?

she sat with the flakks, generally adding 8 delicious dice a turn.

My fav axis character so far, I don't have the axis sniper yet so no idea what she is like.
