I thought I'd start a thread to discuss possible interesting strategies and tactics.

Here's a couple I thought of:

If leading the platoon with a hero, team him/her up with an observer squad. Now your command section can issue 2 orders at any distance, and your command section treats soft cover as hard cover so is difficult to kill.

For the allies, keep a medium walker tagging right behind your heavy walker. It now is in heavy cover that is difficult to circumnavigate, and has turretted weapons to defend the back of the heavy walker from those pesky apes and zombies.

Any other interesting strategies?
