300 AP Army List

By CSMason26, in Dust Warfare

So I've gone ahead and built what I think is a well balanced list in preparation for the aircraft coming from the Russians and the lovely mechs that they have coming. Here's the list I plan on building/buying. Please, any comments/add ins. I do plan on purchasing this list no matter what but I'd be willing to add/buy other fits to mix and match.

Blutkreuz Platoon - 299 AP
Sturmpioniere ( 25 AP )
Heavy Laser Grenadiers ( 35 AP )
Laser Grenadiers ( 21 AP )
Battle Grenadiers ( 17 AP )
Recon Grenadiers ( 21 AP )
MPW II-B “Ludwig” ( 40 AP )
HPW VI-B "SturmKonig" ( 90 AP )
Extra Panzer Support (10 AP )
MPW II-B “Ludwig” ( 40 AP )

And now I'll go through a break down…
The Sturmpioniere is of course, my command squad for my Blutkreuz. That's pretty much the end of that story.
The Heavy Laser Grenadiers are there to add some extra oomph to the enemies mechs.
The laser grenadiers are there because they also will give a bit of a bump to units with their laser ability.
The Battle Grenadiers are there for the points really. They will give me the 2 panzerfaust for attacking and the 4 StG's but aren't really anything special. I took them for their points really.
Recon Grenadiers are there again for the points and their panzerfaust along with the added benefit of being a section.
The two Ludwig's are there for added anti mech. If a platoon has four or more sections which, it has 5, it has the ability to purchase an extra Panzer II for 10 AP plus the cost. That's how I have the two of them.
And last but not least, my baby… the SturmKonig. She's there because she's a heavy hitter with the capabilities to hit infantry, vehicles, and aircraft in a vicious manner.

My biggest fear is the Russians. (Mainly because that'll be my second force and probably the force of a few buddies of mine if I can convince them to play.) We all know how them Russians like their helicopters.

Looks pretty good. Sad that there is no Heinrich in there. They pretty much will own the skies :)

I think I'd probably recommend having a hero or 2. Having a hero and a squad together makes it a lot easier to take out infantry in hard cover. Even with a powerful squad like the laser grenadiers, you're probably only going to deal one or two damage against an infantry squad in cover - adding a hero to the squad would make a huge difference.

Other than that, I think that looks like a pretty good army! :-)

I think the list looks good, but I'd consider splitting it up into two smaller platoons. Other than the Sturmpionieres, everything else in your list is available in the other platoons, and I kind of feel that if you're putting that many points into a single Blutkreuz platoon, you should at least be taking the things that make them unique: zombies and apes. Plus, you admit to basically taking two units for the points and sections. You might be better off finding a way to cut back on those units and grab a small Sturmgrenadiere or Schwer platoon as well. This gives you the added bonus of having an extra unique order, plus the option of taking an actual command squad with a medic, radioman and mechanic.

I also agree with Felkor on the hero.

:)

I think you have a solid start on a great army. I think splitting into two platoons would be a good idea (even two Blutkreuz Platoons). You have a command section and 4 sections in your current list so if you could find a way to drop 5-10pts off the Walkers you could drop the extra panzer upgrade and take Manfred or Sigrid Von Thaler as you second Command choice. Both Heavy Lasers and Laser Grenadiers can be taken as 1st Section options so you are covered there option wise.

Personally I would split things up and take Sigrid Von Thaler (assuming you have her) as your second Command section with the Laser Grenadiers as her 1st Section. Join her too them. Her Berserk Ability is a "Shared" ability and gives a unit she joins a Once per Game effect that allows you to treat a normal shooting attack as a Sustained Fire shooting attack. And since both she and the unit have Lasers, you get your initial 6 shots rerolling misses and for every hit you get, you get another shot rerolling misses. Pretty nice.

To accomplish this you would need to switch out 1 Ludwig to a Luther and drop the Extra Panzer Support Upgrade. This would give you (Noticed you had incorrectly priced the Recon Grenadiers as 21 AP, They are 17 AP):

300 Axis Army - 295pts

Blutkreuz Platoon - 224 AP

Sturmpioniere ( 25 AP )
- Heavy Laser Grenadiers ( 35 AP )
- Battle Grenadiers ( 17 AP )
- Recon Grenadiers ( 17 AP )
* MPW II-B “Ludwig” ( 40 AP )
* HPW VI-B "SturmKonig" ( 90 AP )

Blukreuz Platoon - 71AP

Sigrid Von Thaler ( 20 AP )
- Laser Grenadiers ( 21 AP )
* MPW II-A “Luther” ( 30 AP )

So this actually leaves you with 5 AP to spend. I suggest spending it on the Improved Command (5 AP) Upgrade, adding a Radioman to the Sturmpioniere squad, allowing you to issue orders (amongst other things) to 1 squad outside their 12" command Bubble.

This is actually a really nice list which I might steal and build towards. I had planned to play 2 Blutkreuz Platoons too, but with more zombie goodness and a unit of apes in it, but this list is pretty nice and gets a heavy walker in at 300 AP (something I thought couldn't be done in under 400 AP and still have a solid list to support it). I also really like the change of the second Ludwig to a Luther as the Luther can fill a support AT roll and Supports front line units nicely too.
