Player Aids

By ZombiEd, in Dust Warfare

Has anyone seen any player aids to supplement the cards? I copied the two pages of weapon stats, so players can look up what weapons a unit has on the cards but then look at the page I copied from the book to see the stats for it. I would be nice to have a consolidated turn, abilities, terrain, etc reference..

Hope someone is working on Army Builder files.

i can see someone coming up with a army builder but most information should be found in the book, including the weapons located at the back for quick reference. i know someone at some point came up with a Dust Tactics Army Builder and it wont take long for them to do the same for Warfare i would think.

No clue about "Army Builder" but Dakkon426 is werking on his Army builder program. already has one for DT.

Yes, I am still in the planning stage at the moment but I will definitely include unit stats, and abilities. The first priority however is getting the platoon/army builder. A good bit of the groundwork has already been laid with the dust tactics version however so I'll probably be able to get it done after my next round of painting, as I want to field a fully painted army for tactics regionals and I still have a few things left.

I am doing the poor mans Player Aids. All excel programs. I made my own Army Builder, you just go through and put in the cost of the unit next to the unit you want. It lets you know how many of each you can pick.

The second thing I did was make unit cards for each unit. Not only with the abilities but also what the ability is and the page number as a reference.

These are actually version one. I have made smaller version of these and plan on laminating them. The new ones actually don't list armor it lists unit type and infantry was replaced with Soldier.

I've made up unit cards:

Arrrgggghhhhh….you win!

WOW you guys are more ambitious than I am with the cards. I've been using the Dust Tactics cards and then using the back of the book for the weapons. I was looking for a quick reference for the abilities as well so we didn't have to constantly go to the book. It was a real pain the first time we played having to look up the weapon ranges and verify the stats. I used excel to build the lists.

Can't wait for the AB files. I have the DT version and was going to just update the points just to make it easier to build a list.

@ZombiEd: lol I know, they are making the rest of us look so bad. =D

How about sharing those files :P

Nice cards guys.

I sort of feel like FFG dropped the ball on not having a 'DW unit card pack' for each faction available with the release of the core rulebook. One of the key reasons I got my wife to play Dust Tactics was due to the ease of the cards.

Oh well, just means I'll have to print out some "photo cards" at walmart for (4x6, can do 2 'typical' sized cards) 30 cents a piece. gui%C3%B1o.gif

These must have taken forever with all that copying, cropping and pasting.

They don't actually take that long. I scanned in all the unit pages, and then just bring up the page in microsoft paint and cut and paste from Paint to Word. It ends up only taking a couple minutes per card. The walkers take a bit longer because there aren't unit pics of all the different walkers on the page, so I have to search around for other pics of the walker, but still, it ended up being less time consuming than I thought. I figure it will only take a couple games and the time they took will have paid for themselves by saving all the page flipping.

is this something you still have the files for that you would be willing to share to others for use? I was planning on doing this myself if I could get a pdf copy of the book. If you don't mind sending them out yourself send me a msg and I'll give ya my email addie.

Thanks

As my unit cards are 90% copy and paste from scans of the rulebook, I'm not totally sure if FFG would be happy with me sharing them.

Also, I only scanned and made cards for units I own, so they might not be that useful for people who have different units than I do.

I just took a sharpie pen to my Dust Tactics cards….

Am I a bad person?

An excellent idea, at least for players who don't intend on playing Dust Tactics.

Alternatively, you could get sleeves from Dust Studio, and then put the cards in the sleeves and use a sharpie on the sleeves. Then you could pull the cards out of the sleeve for Dust Tactics games.

Due to popular request, I've gone ahead and added all the special abilities and weapon abilities to the backs of my unit cards. Now everything one needs to know about the unit they can get on a card the same size as a Dust Tactics card. :-) No more page flipping for my games!

Man you got to share that….sounds awesome..LOL

All right - I'll find some place to upload it tonight. It only has cards for the units I own, but I'll upload it in native Word format, and anyone can easily add to it if they want.

Also, the unit cards are the same size as the Dust Tactics cards, which means you can use the Dust Tactics card sleeves (available from the Dust Studios website) with them.

We have a huge file section with a ton of room for hosting things lke this join up and use the files section if you like we love to have ya!

I put in a request to join the group, but at first glance it looks like any files uploaded are available to members only - is that correct?

Yes that's a feature to help cut down on spam, joining is easy and for just the first tree to four posts your moderated to be sure your not a spam bot, but right after you join you get access to all the files and the photo sections all great places to store fun pics and Gaming aids. Its a great way to "network" with players and also set up events using the calender feature, Ive got two Demo days already one for May and another for June, itd s pretty fun format and has great success growing games both local and nationally anyone's welcome!
