Removing the pre-assembled DT models from their bases

By Guidebot, in Dust Tactics

Hello all. I'd like to do some cool urban basing but this would be much easier if I could remove my infantry and walkers from their bases. I tried pulling a bit in the hopes they were peg and hole slotted in, but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Any easy way to de-base these models?

Many thanks

I've been successful with sliding/working an X-acto blade under the attachment point. Get it far enough in so the blade won't snap, then start twisting the blade (twist so the back of the blade goes up into the figure, so the sharp part doesn't slice the model) to pop the glue joint. For infantry, this works pretty well. (Though, I usually just slice the peg off instead of twisting the knife, since I'll be pinning it back onto the base after covering it with debris.) It's a little trickier with the walkers, since the plastic is a bit more brittle, and the glue joints are larger, and at least with the allied walkers, there's lots of small fragile bits in the feet. I've had success with the blade twisting technique, but I usually have to insert the blade in a number of spots and gradually free it. And more often than not, the peg will break off in the hole, if that's a concern for you.

I see, so you ultimately have to re-glue the model.

Ok, I'll probably give that a try then.

Thanks!
