"Allies Army example

Combat Platoon

Command Section: The Boss Ranger Command Squad, 25 AP
1st Section: The Gunners Combat Rangers Squad, 20 AP
Unit upgraded to carry two M9 Bazookas
2nd Section: Death Dealers Ranger Weapon Squad, 20 AP
3rd Section: Recon Boys Recon Ranger Squad, 16 AP

Support Unit:Crack Shots Ranger Sniper Team, 12 AP
Support Unit: Honey Light Assault Walker, 25 AP
Support Unit: Wildfire Light Assault Walker, 20 AP
Platoon Upgrade: Improved Command, 5 AP"

Command is counted. The 3rd support is from the Boss squads special rule.

lawl, well there we go. 2 full pages before someone actually came up with a reference to support it. Id lead off this this kind of stuff in the future.

If it was common sense, so many other people wouldnt have asked it to begin with…

There were 2 who actually asked <although I am sure more were curious>, and 1 of those sounded like they were just making sure more than anything else.

Sounds like the common reaction is that if it has Section in it, it is one.

Common sense. =]

Gobbo was a playtester and specifically stated he has word from FFG that Command Section counts as a section. That settled it for me - I'm not sure what's left to debate.

Also, you do not round. If you have a Command section and a 1st and 2nd, you only get one Support option, you have to take one more section to get a second [other than some special abilities and unit upgrades].

I won't be playing command as a section.

your choice to play with house rules :)

Just remeber, that if you are playing in a tournament, Command Section does count as a section for support. I prefer to play with the rules as they are presented so there is less confusion for tournaments.

I also think this was resolved in another thread as well.

Command Sections count as sections both in determining initiative dice as well as support units. Only exception is an independent leaders acting as the platoon leader.

The suspect reason the army list identifies both a Command Section and a First section is because each Platoon must have a command and one unit to command. I guess they could just as easily listed platoons sections 1 - 5 but chose instead Command and sections 1-4. I suspect it was to make it easier to understand gran_risa.gif

It is also important to note that Command sections can issue orders to ANY section not just the ones in their platoon.

On page 86 of the DW rulebook "Command" is reffered to as a section nine times. So I am pretty sure it's safe to say that it is indeed a section.

Exactly, and support sections are actually mentioned as not counting as sections fo rhe purpose of support. Seems odd that if command sections were the same that they wouldnt mention it.

Also, counting Command as one of your sections allows you to play both walkers for each faction in the original base set to construct a Blutkreuz and a Combat platoon with Heroes as command. [Revised core set allows you to construct a Blutkreuz and an Assault platoon as is but doesn't have the support problem as there is only one walker.]

How is that with the Assault platoon?

I can't see any way to do an Allies Assault Platoon without proxying; the Revised core set includes the Assault Platoon Command, a Heavy Ranger Assault Squad (1st Section choice), and a Ranger Weapon Squad (a 4th Section choice). Did I misread the rules and you can take a 4th section without filling 2nd and 3rd sections?

Edit: I went back and sure enough, I misunderstood the rules.

The easiest way to look at this is that platoons that are currently released are comprised of 2 different types of components: sections and units

Sections (Command, 1,2,3, & 4) with the Command and 1st being mandatory (with the exception of heroes filling in some of the command slots)

and

Support Units (one per 2 sections normally)

You can do an Elite Platoon. Using Rhino's Leadership ability.
