Rita Young vs. Rhan-Tegoth

By Arturus2, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

How to pass Personal Story test?

Rita's personal story: Pass: If Rita has 3 or more monster trophies, including at least 1 Cultist, …

Rhan-Tegoth's power: … any Coultist that is drawn from the monster cup is placed on his sheet. …

Any ideas?

You can't. Except for rare occurance when you have a chance to draw a monster from the cup and immediately claim it as a trophy. In this case you have a slight chance to draw a cultists this way. Still, encounters that give you trophies are rare.

With Rhan you can't pass her personal story. That's it. IIRC, it was said (a *lot* of time ago, when it was still possible whisper secrets from the coming FAQs) that in case you draw a cultist from an encounter, it's drained by Rhan as usual, but you're allowed to draw again.

Same stuff for Abhoth: no cultists in the cup, hence no way Rita can pass her PS

Julia hit on a subtle point. You can't even obtain Cultists through encounters. Should a Cultist come out of the bag for ANY reason, Rhan consumes it. Needless to say, it is difficult or impossible to pass the personal stories for some investigators against certain AOs.

Lol. Investigator passing by graveyard founds a freshly digged grave with a cultist corpse. Suddenly, Rhan-Tegoth crawls out of his slumber, violently eats the corpse, vomits out someone else's corpse and crawls back.

Hey, you could always even the score by choosing Tulzscha….

Very true! Plus, the wording on Rhan sheet is pretty clear: "every time a Cultist is drawn from the cup". Encounters instruct you to draw monsters from the cup. Hence, no way.

LOL. Should you lose sanity for this? If you saw an open grave and your first thought was, "gee I'd sure like to haul that corpse around town" then you're probably over the edge already.

I've always imagined monster trophies to represent "experience points", gained by encountering said monster or taking with you a small part of it (I don't know, skin or horns or jewels etc). Not dragging its corpse through the streets of Arkham :P

Dragging a Cthonian or Star Spawn (or even several of them) would probably have a negative impavt on your speed and sneak capabilities gran_risa.gif

Perhaps you can tie them acros the bonnet of the patrol car.

These Invstigators are the same people who can lug a Shotgun, Rifle, Ancient Spear, whole bag of Tomes, Dynamite, Cat, Dog, Zoog, Motorcycle, and Sedanette wherever they go- why not drag a giant Shai Hulud/Cthonian carcass around town as well?

In one of my latest games I had Hank carrying something like 5 Shoggoth / Proto-shoggoths corpses… I guess he has a future as fatigue man to help people moving…

And yet, investigators still have difficulty moving pianos….

As far as moving pianos is concerned, the unmovable ones are my forte? ::laughter::
