So, I have no qualms typing up some of the cards and sharing them with you guys, though I don not have a scanner and therefore won't be able to load up any pictures. Overall, I am really happy with this set! The Scenario has 2 Quest Cards and is difficulty 5. The only actual enemy in the deck besides random Tentacles with varying abilities is the Watcher himself. This is a very thematic scenario! I am excited to play this one later tonight!

What are the Tactics cards in this AP?
Rivendell Bow: cost 1. Item. Weapon. Attach to a Noldor or Silvan character, or to Aragorn. Limit 1 per character. Attached character gains ranged. If attached character has a printed ranged keyword, it gets +1 during a ranged attack.
Watcher of the Bruinen: cost 2. Noldor. Warrior. Wp 1, Att 1, Def 2 HP 2. Sentinel. Watcher of the Bruinen does not exhaust to defend. Forced: After Watcher of the Bruinen defends, either discard it from play or discard 1 card from your hand.
What about the Watcher card itself? What stats/actions does it have?
Oh and don't hesitate to make a short report when you play, I'd love to read about experiences/ real difficulty / thematical fitting ! 
I have yet to beat this scenario with my primary deck (which by the way has a high win ratio), and I have played 5 games now. As usual, the Treachery cards in this quest are brutal. The Watcher is by far the nastiest card in the game. HIs threat is 4, attack 5, defense 7, and Hp 9! If another tentacle card is in play, he cannot be optionally engaged. The worst effect he has is this: if the watcher is in the staging area at the end of the combat phase, deal 3 damage to a single character you control. Overall, as far as solo is concerned, this is one of those badly scaled quests for consistent victory. I love the theme of it however and will continue to play until I am victorious!
What kinda of a deck are you playing? (Spheres etc.)

Right now my primary deck is a Lore/Spirit deck that specializes in low threat.
I really wonder why the designers have been talking so much about secrecy in conjuction to this quest. I do not have the pack yet but from what I hear here it does not seem like having super low threat is that much of an advantage as you must fear having the Watcher in the staging area. Does low threat help with the Doors?
I think the low threat idea is mainly due to how nasty some of the Treachery cards are. For instance there's this one Treachery card that simple says: doomed 5. Yikes! That hurts to draw during a Questing phase, I would know!
Enemies tend to stack up quick in this quest as well with rather high contributing threat levels, so the potential to fail Questing phases is higher. Anyway, these are just a few of my thoughts!
Sounds like this could a job for Tactics. Wonder what I should pair them with when my pack arrives.
I just picked up the pack and went through the cards, and I have a hunch that my Three Hunter's/Eagles deck - which can battle like nobody's business - might struggle here. The tentacle enemies have low engagement values and nasty effects. For example:
Striking Tentacle "Forced: When Striking Tentacle attacks, discard the top card of the encounter deck. If that card has a shadow effect or is a Tentacle enemy, this attack is considered undefended." Striking Tentacle has a 4 attack value, and there are a lot of tentacles in the encounter deck…
Yeah guys, this quest is brutal as heck if you don't have either a lot of cards with titles that begin with letters that Encounter cards do (for Durin's Door effect to trigger), or if you don't have a high amount of attack power to deal with the Watcher himself. These are the only two ways to win the scenario because they are the only 2 cards in the set to have victory points printed on them, and you need 3 victory points to win the last stage. I don't know if I will beat this one solo for a while.
Thinking about it more, the best way to beat this one with my deck might be to save up my Descendants and have a Gandalf ready for a single turn blitz of the Watcher. He's got 9 hit points, but regenerates 2 per turn.
The Gandalf/Eagle smackdown you mention just might work. Yeah, 9 hp with 2 regeneration a turn is disgusting! Plus the added effect of him throwing 3 damage a turn at you while you are trying to avoid him by leaving him in the staging area! This thing is nasty!

I got both lucky and unlucky with my cards draws, but a Winged Guardian managed to beat a few tentacle attacks off for me while I took the early part of the quest easy trying to build up my cards. I managed to get all of my Sneak Attacks, but no Gandalf or Descendants. Then I was at the Doors and there were no tentacles so I engaged the Watcher. My Guardian gave up the ghost defending, and then Gimli, Legolas and Aragorn attacked, and Gimli had 4 damage on him so I dealt 7 damage. After regeneration he had 5. I drew Descendant during the resource phase and so I was able to Sneak Attack my Descendant in for the remaining damage.
So with the right deck this is doable.

If my memory serves, Descendant only deals damage to an enemy in the staging area. Since you have already engaged the Watcher in the previous turn, unless the Watcher would return to the staging area, Descendant cannot hurt it by its ability.
True. Descendant only deals with the staging area. The card is getting much better still with every new quest showing enemies with lower hp - usually 2 or 3.
Anyway, one way to do this would be a Henamarth-Gildor combo, right?
Unless I have something wrong, it looks like hail of stones could be huge. How about first turn, play a one cost ally (erk or scout), sneak attack gandalf (for 4 damage) and hail of stones exhausting everyone for a total of 5 more. I know it requires a lucky card draw in hand but it should work….right?
I was paying flight from moria earlier with beekeepers, descendant of thorndor and gandalf and started to think about just killing the nameless fear because i was getting sick of putting 3 progress on the winning quest card and then getting it swapped or progress removed. So compared to 27hp, 9 doesn't seem so bad.
By the sounds of how powerful the watcher is, this scenario sounds hard. How did it only get a 5 rating?
In addition, did anyone try the "stealth" deck which was highlighted for this pack? The one using the new strider which will use secrecy through the whole scenario.
1. Yeah I screwed up playing Descendant there. I still think I would have won, but it depends on what the card draw during the encounter phase was. (I had A Test of Will in my pocket too).
2. I was thinking about the Henemarth/Gildor combo last night and it should work fine.
3. I'm still not getting Secrecy in general, and I've tried to embrace it because I like the Elladan/Elrohir combo. But I just don't think it works yet. The best Secrecy deck I've seen is still Xanalor's which he built before Secrecy cards were even available. (You can find it at BGG, look for "Keep it Secret, Keep it Safe".) Now with regards to this quest, it's really going to struggle because there are SO many tentacle enemies with engagement levels of 12 and 18. They're coming at you and you have to be able to fight them. I haven't tried the posted Loragon deck against this quest though.
Yeah…I just looked at the quest and it made me shiver…this one looks like a tough nut to crack ! I guess direct damage is the way to go, especially for some tentacles that have nasty effects if you attack them and reveal a Tentacle encounter card. Even a good Tactics deck could get destroyed by those effects….Direct damage would at least bypass those. A Light In the Dark could also be useful against tentacles if you want to combo with Descendant of Thorondor the following turn.
Doomed 5 treachery cards and really low threat tentacle enemies seem to make Watcher in the Water a really bad quest to try out secrecy with. Road to Rivendell seems like a much better one to try it with.
I concur. Watcher seems built to chew up stealth decks. 8 enemies engage at 12 threat, another 4 engage at 18. The watcher damages you from the staging area. Disturbed Waters and Stagnant Creek and both add five to your threat. And if Ill Purpose every resolves against a stealth deck it will probably end your game in a turn.
That being said, I look forward to trying my stealth deck against it tonight.

It may be misplaced. My women of Middle Earth deck did not fair well against the tentacled monstrosity.
