Close Combat

By bsantucci, in Dust Warfare

If i have a unit of 5 figures and only 3 of them are within 3" of the enemy unit, do only the three fight or do all five fight as part of the unit that is within 3 "►

CC weapons have a range of 3", treat them the same as other ranged weapons. Pg 40. Only models in range will participate

Does this mean that a unit can attack with all its ranged weapons AND all close combat weapons (within 3")?

Yes you can, there is no 'engagement' in this game. An attack action allows an attack with all weapons in range

That's not right. Check page 57, the bullets at the bottom right. It says:

"The unit may only use Close Combat Weapons with other Close Combat weapons. Weapons with a range other than "C" cannot be used during the attack."

It also says if you are reacting to a close combat attack, you can only react with Close Combat Weapons.

Thanks. Missed that somehow

the real question is, if you start 3 inches from a target can you use 2 actions one to attack via close combat and the 2nd to shoot with. nothing in the rules say you cant, but I'm used to the tactics rules. however is we've all read/seen this isn't tactics, so do you think its a yes or a no.

If you can, this makes type 3 infantry truly scary.

2 attacks is a sustained attack. I guess you could technically do that if you attacked once in the command phase and then were able to attack again in the unit phase

actually the rules just say you can choose to do a double action, not that you have to.

Page 33 - A unit may complete its actions in any order it wishes; it can Move and the Attack, or Attack and then Move, take no actions or only one action, or take a double action.

We came to the same conclusion: We had a walker that had been blinded, so it seemed like you could potentially just take two attack actions, which would be better than one without re-rolls. But on looking at the rules, it doesn't say you can do two attacks or two moves. It only says you can move and attack in any order, or do the one of the double actions.
