Do you know of any source material for Halflings and Ogres►

By Johannes_Tippmeister, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Having received Hero''''s Call today I''''m now finally able to let my players create Halflings, yet I realized that I have next to no background information on them. I have a lot of WFRP materials, I really do, but I haven''''t come across any source books on either Halflings or the Moot.

Hero''''s Call itself has merely 1 page of description. Do you guys know of any Warhammer material that sheds more light on them► It might be source material for the first or second edition, Warpstone articles, unit descriptions in any Fantasy Battle army book or whatever else you may have discovered. If canon lore has left the topic uncharted, then maybe some fan-made articles have tackled the issue in all those years► I think the Reckless Dice podcast might have discussed them in their ''''Hero''''s Call'''' episode but I''''d have to go back and listen to it again.

Let''''s collect anything we may have discovered from 1986 to 2012. I mean, these guys could not have come out of nowhere and the Moot must have been described somewhere sometime, I am sure.

Warhammer Halflings seem to be meaner than your average Bilbo Baggins so I reckon merely watching the upcoming Hobbit movie won''''t do. ;-)

Almost as an afterthought - the same situation applies to Ogres, doesn''''t it► Do we have any source material on them, aside from the single page in Hero''''s Call►

There is an Ogre Kingdom book for the Warhammer Battle game. These always have a lot of fluff at the front before they get to rules and pictures of minis. There was also a fan made supplement for 1st Edition called "Ogres of the Empire"[►] which can still probably be found with a good roll on your ''use google'' skill.

As for halflings I know there is stuff on the Moot in Sigma''s Heir''s (for 2nd Edition) and there is a halfling organisation called the Quinsberry Lodge detailed in Shades of the Empire (also for second edition). According to WFRP Companion (2nd Edition) "Most of the empire''s cities have a halfling ghetto or Kleinmoot where the cities halflings live in small brightly coloured houses on cramped streets."

Thanks a lot, those are exactly the type of pointers I was hoping for! I''ll start looking for those now.

Hard to find but Warpstone (#21 I think) had "Appetite for Destruction" article about ogres as PC"s. For earlier system but may be useful.

Found this online while I was looking for old WD issues that I remeber with Halfling Detectives for WFRP.

I remember a lot of noir & Call of Cthulu style mystery's but then again Games Workshop also published that in the U.K. if I remeber right.

Wolf Riders has a short story called "The Tilean Rat" that you may want to read.

I really hope the enemy within rewrite has this kind of spirit.

The Warhammer novel 'Runefang' has both a halfling and an ogre as characters. The halfling gives a unique insight on their need to constantly eat (in addition to being the stereotypical thief and cook) and it shows you how an Ogre works within the Empire -which admittedly I always found more than a little difficult to comprehend.
