I'm looking for some opinions on how a daemon weapon would react around a soulless. Personally, i think it would be a regular weapon while around them and crazy when it leaves their null field. what do you guys think?
Daemon Weapons and Soulless
Hey!
If by soulless you mean Blanks, Pariahs and Untouchables- than you're completely right!
I am pretty sure its also in the rules, not quite like you said it, but with the exact same spirit.
excellent, thanks for the relpy Saldre. I'm planning on tempting all of my players with deamon weapons, but the pariah posed a problem. Then i remembered he wants to be a thrown weapon master, so that's how this question came up. I'm thinking a Crimson Crown with Flame and Seeming Normality will do the trick.
and that brings up a second question, as GM how should I deal with corruption and insanity with regards to an untouchable picking up a deamon weapon? If he doesn't know he can only find out if he leaves it near a malleus agent or a psyker of some sort, and if he does know, does it matter? being in his possession will be agony for the deamon, and it can't do much while it's on him.
A pariah isn''t immune to the influence of the warp, just extremely resistant. Given enough time even a daemon will be able to affect one, if it is powerful enough.
so i could start it off as normal, then throw in dreams, then visions, then all out crazy-hallucinations about the demon► and every time one of these occurs i could nail a few corruption points to him.
this reminds me, for a pariah, would serving chaos be like deaf, blind man working for a crime syndicate► since their resistance makes it really hard for deamons and the like to manifest themselves in any way.

that''s not how I interpret the fluff (provided by the wh40k lexicanum site) and the description of blanks in the radical''s handbook. I think infact that if you check out the blank section of that book it has info on the effect on daemon weapons.. when I get home I''ll double check
Sorry for the double-post and the lateness of the response, I forgot to take care of this when I got back yesterday.
So I just checked and in the radical's handbook (p.38) the Untouchable background package (based on blanks and pariahs) basically makes you completely immune to any psychic power, including psychic powers that affect an area. The only example they give of an untouchable being affected is indirectly (dropping a boulder with telekensis and squishing the unotuchable)
in the text box in the corner of the page titled "the Untouched and the Profane" it goes on to mention further the effects of being an untouchable; one of which is any weapon related to the warp (daemon weapons, force weapons, occult artifacts) are rendered to their basic forms (daemon ax becomes a basic axe)
sorry again for the lateness of the reply and I hope this helps!
so if I understand this correctly, with a thrown deamon weapon I'll need to check range against his area of influence, correct? or would he render it normal for a while even when out of his null "bubble"?

Pretty much as you stated. The only thing I'm not sure of (I don't recall seeing a hard and fast rule) was when the item returns to 'normal' after leaving the 'blank zone'. I'd leave it to you're judgement there.
I'd probably allow a blank to "throw" a daemon weapon and midflight have it revert to its daemon property self It'd be a nasty surprise for baddies and an interesting way around the blank thing. (sorta like the psyker telekenis solution to the blank!)
