Question about army building, Platoon & Support units

By Raven1man, in Dust Warfare

Hey all just trying to wrap my head around building an army here and had a question just to make sure I'm doing it right. You have to buy a Command Sec and 1st Sec. but does that mean that all I have to do is just pick one option from the 1st Sec? Example, I buy Combat Ranger sq from the Combat Platoon 1st Sec could I then buy Combat Ranger sq from 2nd Sec (or any other Sq from any other Sec)? or do I have to fill 1st Sec before I take anything from 2nd Sec? My thought is no you can "cherry pick" other Sec as long as you take one Sq from 1st Sec and a Command, but I just want to make sure.

Support: It states that you can have one Support unit per two Sec. Does that mean that I have to take one Sq from 1st Sec and one Sq from 2nd Sec before I can take a Support unit? and to get a 2nd support unit I would have to take something from 3rd Sec and 4th Sec or do I just have to buy 2 more Squads from any two Sec from the list?

Thanks from the help.

You only take one squad/unit for each section.

And yes, it's one support unit for each section, but your command section counts as a section too, so you could just have Command plus 1st section plus support section.

I assume then, when it says I may take one support unit (a walker) per two sections, the Command Section counts as one of the sections?

So, for the allies, If I take a Command Section, and Sections 1, 2, and 3, I have FOUR sections, and can take two walkers as support units, right?

Thanks for the clear up there felkor

Command is not considered a "section". you must take a choice from "section 2-4" to get a support unit. Under organization on pg 114 for axis it defines a section: "Each section is comprised of one soldier unit each". The command is made up of a command unit, therefore it is not a section. Then the obvious design element in that you can have 1-4 sections, each 2 giving you an extra support.

"Command is not considered a "section"." Why do you say that? It is listed as a Section.

"you must take a choice from "section 2-4" to get a support unit" Where does it say that?

"The command is made up of a command unit, therefore it is not a section." The Command is made of Infantry and therefore is a Soldier unit. Which is what the platoons are made up of.

The Command Section is listed under Platoon Sections. It is listed as a Command Section. Therefore, I think it is a Section and can be used when it comes Support units.

Per FFG, the Command Section counts as a Section. So, yes, you can have up to 5 sections in a Platoon…

Per them? reference? maybe per FFG, its not.

I am on the Playtest Team for Dust Warfare and per one of the writers [my handler] It is a Section. Can't get much more official than that…

It was resolved.
