Dying to know, as this sounds like a great and interesting force more so after reading the alt history in the new book!
Dust - will thier be Japanese Empire figures ?
other then the alien race that is suppose to be apart of the next expansion, there hasnt been any official for the japanese. as part of the dust models line there are japanese figures of heroes and tanks though so they have the designs needed to at least get them going. from rumors though it would be uncertain if the japanese would be a force onto their own or an exansion of the axis army, much like how the british are being thrown in with the allied forces.
There is one Japanese walker in the Dust Studios line, so there is precedent for them, but it is of Axis design so as the post before me says no one is sure whether they'll be on their own or not.
I asked this a while back. I was hoping for something like alt army builds with maybe some unique models. It would be a good way to do japanese, marines, and then a chinese sub army for the 3 blocs.

Have you seen this? www.kallamity.com/products/view/HE001D How much fun would that be to paint?
Pretty much there are many sub factions you could make for each side. Just getting the appropriate bits for slight conversions may help. Such as using these heads www.thewarstore.com/product61269.html and maybe some katanas and add them to Grenadiers. I am doing somethign similar with my French Foreign Legion.
Reinforce them with some Dust Models Ryu and use the proper decals on all your walkers and it will have a Japanese look to them. Then just convert eh heroes to match your desires.
I am hoping the do it eventually as I want the game to have room to grow.
I want this game to last as long as Warhammer 40k.

Was a bit disappointed the book (Dust Warfare) failed to mentionMajestic 12 and Ahnenerbe. But yeah, I hope it grows a tad as well, with some Japanese specific Soldier 2 and Soldier 3 and Walkers, and so forth (like the Paras in the allies). Im also interested in Istanbul and the NNO. I would like to see a NNO force list (which, I suppose, would not make them very Neutral).
But to date you have the following either supported or mentioned: Axis, Allies, SSU, Vril, NNO, M12 and Ahnenerbe.

x2
I've been on and off 40k for the last 25 years now. Haven't found anything that stimulated my imagination as much, except for a few fringe games... nothing until Dust. If adding funky japanese/manga style mechas (40k Tau anyone?) will gain this game more popularity and so, make it prosper, I'm all for it! I won't buy any, but my Allied troops will be more than happy to pound them into the ground...
Thanks for the great replies and info guys Ive enjoyed reading them, hoping I can help grow this game as a ex At43 player Ive missed the genre of gaming with mechs & monkeys, so glad to be able to play something again, I am truly amazed how easy the rules are to follow and understand if thiers any AT43 vets hear you know what Im talking about...lol
Cheers Gordon in NH
YES UNIVERSAL RESOLUTION TABLE HOW I MISSED YOU!
i miss AT-43 and i wish someone would pick it back up. Hopefully when i get the book this week me and my friends will have just as much fun with it as we did with AT-43
Maybe these are evidence of things to come...I hope : )
Yeah, I mentioned the Ryu earlier, it's been out a long time, is of axis design, but is a 'Japanese' walker specifically and the axis version is the Wotan. So yeah, I think it's a good possibility we'll see them sometime eventually

I would like to see a Pacific Theater expansion sometime in the near future. I do not want to see anime style walkers though. The Japanese received their walkers from Germany in 1945, so it sounds as though they don't have their own VK tech. Could modifications be made, sure, but with how hotly contested the Pacific is I don't see them making any wild and crazy changes in walker design. I just like the look of the Axis walkers as is, truth be told.
It might be interesting to see some variations, especially since the exaggeration of the thoughts behind the design of the Zero (low armor for maximum mobility, which also helps on low resource levels) could make for Japanese walkers losing an Armor rating and/or a Hit Point (or two) to gain movement abilities (Fast, Charge, etc.) Same models in use, just when you swap the insignia to play, some of them are made with thinner armor or less structural strength.
Heh, sub-faction introduction as unit card sets. Interesting thought.
Amen to that!

This was posted related to another post but ended up here.
This is a wierd forum...
tried to make some out of Wargames factory parts and other parts and green stuff just for fun. I will post what I got done on them as soon as some parts come in
I wouldn't be surprised if we see a lot of planes from the Japanese end to help with the coming expansions of the flyers in the SSU. I bet we'll see some aspects that give us the option to have some serious dog fights. Kamakazi flyers so on so forth.
That would be amazing… Luckily FFG hasn't done that yet otherwise I'd have no money.
The Japanese have their own mechs in Dust. The RYU was one of the first designs and was a joint German/ Japanese project. Their first original design was the Type 4 KA-MI. This is some of the artwork from the original sourcebook. There is somemore pics that I have floating around of some of the infantry and additionnal mechs that I will dig up if there is any interest.
.
Doom if you can find more, I'd love to see them.
Looks awesome - yes would love to see more from this book.
On another note - one of the few dust figures that have not made it to dust warfare/ tactics are the Fallschrimjager with rocket packs - i think dust did a larger scale model kit for these - theres even one shown in the warfare book…. i hope there are plans to make them for the game……
That mech is awesome. I really hope they bring out a Japanese faction!
You Sir just made my day !
